Chapter 64
After picking up Matilda, the three of them headed to Ramshorn, on the outskirts. Aubree had already arranged with Sylvia to visit the set under the guise of a casual check-in. Sylvia would have a break during filming, and Aubree planned to talk with her then. Before arriving, Aubree bought coffee and desserts out of her own pocket.
When they got there, Sylvia was still filming, so they waited by the side, quickly drawing quite a few curious glances. All three of them were good-looking, even by entertainment industry standards, so people began to speculate whether they were newcomers signed by Peace Entertainment trying to get a cameo in the drama.
As Aubree watched Sylvia act, a strange sense of familiarity crept over her. She felt like she had seen this scene before. She frowned and thought for a moment, then her pupils suddenly contracted. She remembered. This drama featured Trevor, who was playing the male lead.
โJust my luck...โ Aubree thought.
Aubree couldnโt describe her feelings. She didnโt want any further entanglements with that family. If any had to happen, it would only be her reclaiming everything sheโd once lost. She scanned the set. Trevor wasnโt around. It was a small blessing amidst the trouble. He probably didnโt have scenes today and hadnโt come.
After a while, Sylvia finally finished filming.
โSorry to keep you waiting,โ she said. Upon seeing the three young visitors, she was surprised. They looked just like high school students. But as a professional actress, she kept her composure. With a graceful smile, she shook hands with all three, showing respect.
โHello, let me introduce myself. Iโm Aubree Miller, the owner of Bree Technology. This is my friend Matilda Diaz, and this is Alvin Turner, a shareholder,โ Aubree gave a brief self-introduction.
Sylvia was surprised that Aubree was actually the boss. She was sure none of them were over 18 or 19, yet here they were, running a company and with such a bold, innovative idea.
โAbout the project you mentioned over the phone, could you explain it to me in more detail?โ Sylvia asked.
โOf course,โ Aubree replied, noting with satisfaction that Sylviaโs reaction to her identity as a young boss showed no contempt, only admiration and interest. She liked this kind of partner.
The appโs initial version had already been completed, and Bree Technology had started hiring more staff, forming a basic structure. Aubree pulled out prepared documents and began detailing Playzy.
She explained, โWeโre in the final stages of development. Once testing confirms stability and we fix any bugs, we can begin public beta testing. Later, if the platform attracts influencers with large followings, Peace Entertainment could sign and develop them.โ
Aubree elaborated on how live-streaming and short video content had boomed in later years, allowing ordinary people to rise to stardom. Influencer management companies flourished alongside. So it was better to seize the opportunity first and earn the money.
Sylvia was tempted, but she also had reservations. She suggested, โFrom the draft contract you showed me, it seems my artists will enter the platform for free, and from the earnings through the gift system, the split is 70-30 in favor of the talent?โ
She added, "That means if it fails, not only would my artists waste their fire, but it could harm their reputation."
The benefits were promising, but so were the risks.
โ70-30 is already me giving up a lot. The standard is 50-50,โ Aubree said calmly. She hadnโt even considered the possibility of failure. Playzy was bound to succeed as long as it ran normally. But of course, she couldnโt exactly tell Sylvia that she had lived a second life and knew the future.
โAll your concerns are completely unnecessary. The only reasons Playzy might fail are a lack of follow-up funding or unsuccessful promotion and traffic generation," Alvin suddenly spoke up, drawing Sylviaโs attention.
โHeโs the shareholder, and his surname is Turner?โ Sylvia thought.
Sylvia suddenly had a flash of insight, "Waitโฆ could he be from that Turner family?"
โThe investor backing Bree Technology is the Turner family,โ Alvin said plainly, confirming Sylviaโs hunch.
Her hesitation disappeared instantly. โI can have the contract signed and sent to Bree Technology today.โ
Aubree lit up. โThen I look forward to a great partnership with you.โ
Matilda, ever observant, noticed things being carried into the set. โOur foodโs arrived!โ
โWhat food?โ Sylvia asked.
โWe came under the pretense of visiting you, so I thought we should bring something for the crew, just to show some goodwill and build a positive impression,โ Aubree explained.
Since no one knew them, the credit for this gesture would naturally fall to Sylvia.
โYou really went all out." Sylvia smiled sincerely. She liked Aubree. Aubree was sharp, straightforward, and easy to work with.
With the food delivered and business settled, Aubree didnโt linger and left with her two companions. What she didnโt know was that shortly after she left, Trevor arrived with a woman in his arms.
His appearance instantly drew attention. Many of the crew were his fans. After all, Trevor was charismatic and charming.
โSylvia, did you buy these?โ he asked casually, helping himself.
Sylvia shook her head. โThey were from a friend. Aubree Miller. Do you know her?โ
โAubree Miller!โ Trevor froze, dessert in hand, unsure whether to eat or set it down.
Sylvia asked, โYou know her?โ
Trevor said, โIf you mean a very pretty girl who looks about 17 or 18โฆ then probably.โ
Sylvia raised her brows. โThatโs her.โ
Trevor was confident it was the Aubree he knew.
The woman in his arms immediately grew displeased. โTrevor, is this another one of your old flings?โ
โCome on, no way. Sheโs my little sister,โ he said, though his eyes betrayed a more complicated feeling.
He pondered, โAubree had come looking for Sylvia? But do they know each other? He couldnโt think of any reason for her to come other than for him. His eyes darkened a little, probing, โSylvia, did my sister say what she came for? Did she mention me?"
Sylvia was confused. They were siblings, but they didnโt share the same last name. Even Aliceโs last name wasnโt Miller. Still, there was no reason for Trevor to lie about this.
โYour sister is quite something! So young and already coming up with brilliant ideas, and she started a company on her own!โ Sylvia said, with a little awe.
Trevor was stunned. He pressed again, more urgently, โShe didnโt come for me?โ
He thought all this food was her way of trying to get his attention. He thought she was trying to show affection by offering gifts to the crew.
โAubree didnโt mention you,โ Sylvia replied, giving Trevor a curious look. He seemed a bit annoyed when she praised Aubree.
Trevor caught himself under her gaze, forced a smile, and joked, โGuess Iโm not a very good brother.โ
โWell then, Iโll take Evie to go find the director,โ he added, guiding the woman beside him away.
The moment he turned, his smile disappeared, and his eyes filled with mixed emotions.
