When Patrick was escorted out of the elevator by the police, people in the lobby all stared and pointed, mostly in disbelief.
Birgitte and Patrick’s relationship had never been deliberately hidden. Almost everyone at the company knew about it. At first, they all admired their fairy-tale romance. He even shielded her from sulfuric acid. They didn’t expect it to end like this.
"I don’t get it. Patrick is pretty capable himself, and being with Ms. Cherniavsky isn’t really a loss, right? Apart from that one scandal, Ms. Cherniavsky has looks, talent, and connections. She’s close friends with Ms. Miller from headquarters. Why would he become a mole?"

Inside the meeting room, Birgitte sat alone. She had let everyone else go.

Birgitte walked out with none of the fragility or confusion she showed earlier. Her gaze was sharp. She appeared to be calm and steady. "Hand the collected evidence over to the police. File charges against Patrick for leaking our company’s trade secrets," she added. "Contact the 14th department. They can get started. Companies that threatened us or withdrew their investments during this period should be contacted to cancel all contracts with them. According to Ms. Miller, there is no shortage of potential partners. We do not need these companies."
Bree Technology was no longer what it used to be. It had solid foundations thanks to its veteran livestreaming platforms. As long as people wanted to become influencers or watch live content, Playzy would keep making money. Then there was Zappy. It was now fully established at home and abroad and easily considered a national-level app.

In terms of legacy and strength, Bree Technology was now on par with the biggest names in the industry.
The secretary pushed up his glasses. “Don’t worry, Ms. Cherniavsky. We won’t let those who talked trash get off the hook.”
Birgitte nodded and dismissed him. Her tasks were mostly done. She made a call to update Aubree on the situation.
The buzz online hadn’t died down. Even though it was now clear there had been no privacy breach, everyone was still curious about what was going on inside Bree Technology.
Speculation grew wilder by the day.
Some theorized that Birgitte was fighting Aubree for control. Others said Bree Technology had made too many enemies, and someone was trying to sabotage them, only to be caught off guard by Bree Technology’s preparedness. One person even claimed their uncle worked at Bree Technology and said Aubree had recently asked Alvin for support.
