Chapter 482
Trevor had a place near the filming location where heโd been staying these days. He brought Kate back with him.
โYou didnโt go to the party becauseโฆโ Trevor kept up his flawless gentlemanly facade.
He handed her a cup of water. โOf course, if you feel Iโm overstepping, you donโt have to answer.โ
A faint smile played at the corners of Trevorโs lips, making it hard for anyone not to warm up to him.
Kate lowered her gaze. โMy familyโs not well-off, and theyโre still paying for my education. The main reason Iโm acting is for the paycheck. I also have other part-time jobs, like working as a bartender at a bar.
As if remembering something, her tone grew a bit more urgent. โBut itโs nothing shady. Iโm just working as a bartender and earning commission, thatโs all.โ
Trevor reached out and gently patted her head. โI know.โ
She looked up at him, her eyes brimming with gratitude.
He could see the admiration in her gaze, something he was all too familiar with. His smile deepened. โThereโs nothing shameful about earning money through your own hard work.
โHonestly, Iโm glad I picked that place for dinner tonight. Otherwise, my leading lady mightโve gotten into trouble.โ
His words were only half-joking, half-serious. He really was relieved. Otherwise, the girl he had his eye on might have ended up with someone else.
His teasing lightened the mood, and Kateโs cheeks flushed a little. โMr. Wilson, do you have any wine here?โ
โI do,โ he replied.
After that, everything just seemed to fall into place, so smoothly that even Trevor was surprised by how well things went.
Once Kate asked for a drink, Trevor naturally kept her company. She rambled on about her life, and Trevor, careful not to drink too much, became the perfect listener.
โYouโre drunk,โ Trevor said gently.
This was where it all began.
The next morning, Kate slowly opened her eyes, feeling his arm draped around her waist. There was no trace of panic or shyness in her gazeโonly pure thrill and delight.
She thought, โI have finally done it. I have taken the first step and gotten close to him at last.
Trevor, just you wait. Iโm here to get my revenge!โ
Feeling the movement behind her, Kate quickly masked the hatred in her eyes. She let out a startled cry, clutching the blanket to her chest as if in panic. โMr. Wilson, this is all my fault. I shouldnโt have asked you for a drink.โ
She sniffled softly, pretending to cry.
Trevorโs heart melted. He remembered how innocent and sweet sheโd looked last night while she was beneath him.
Heโd met plenty of women who tried to act pure and innocent just to please him, but nothing compared to someone who was genuinely like thatโit was so much more satisfying than any act.
He reached out and pulled her into his arms. โItโs not your fault.โ
Kate kept on crying, her voice trembling as she whispered, โWhat we did was wrong. Youโre already married.
โHow could I have done something like this? Mr. Wilson, Iโll go tell the director I canโt do this short drama anymore. Iโll stay far away from you. I wonโt show up and mess up your life.โ
Trevor felt both pity and affection for her. All those other women heโd met would have done anything to use this connection for their own gain, but not her. She was so naive and pitiful. She actually thought about leaving him.
Trevor said, โAs for my wifeโSophiaโyou probably know a bit about whatโs going on between us. But honestly, I never wanted to marry her. I was set up.โ
โOf course, saying all this now, I wouldnโt blame you if you didnโt believe me.โ He gave a bitter, helpless laugh.
Kate squeezed his hand, her voice unwavering. โI believe you!โ
She looked at him with absolute conviction. โI believe you. If itโs you saying it, Iโll believe anything.โ
If before Trevor had only been interested in Kate as a challenge, now there was a trace of real feeling in his heart. If only Iโd met her sooner, he thought with a silent sigh.
