Chapter 482

Trevor had a place near the filming location where heโ€™d been staying these days. He brought Kate back with him.

โ€œYou didnโ€™t go to the party becauseโ€ฆโ€ Trevor kept up his flawless gentlemanly facade.

He handed her a cup of water. โ€œOf course, if you feel Iโ€™m overstepping, you donโ€™t have to answer.โ€

A faint smile played at the corners of Trevorโ€™s lips, making it hard for anyone not to warm up to him.

Kate lowered her gaze. โ€œMy familyโ€™s not well-off, and theyโ€™re still paying for my education. The main reason Iโ€™m acting is for the paycheck. I also have other part-time jobs, like working as a bartender at a bar.

As if remembering something, her tone grew a bit more urgent. โ€œBut itโ€™s nothing shady. Iโ€™m just working as a bartender and earning commission, thatโ€™s all.โ€

Trevor reached out and gently patted her head. โ€œI know.โ€

She looked up at him, her eyes brimming with gratitude.

He could see the admiration in her gaze, something he was all too familiar with. His smile deepened. โ€œThereโ€™s nothing shameful about earning money through your own hard work.

โ€œHonestly, Iโ€™m glad I picked that place for dinner tonight. Otherwise, my leading lady mightโ€™ve gotten into trouble.โ€

His words were only half-joking, half-serious. He really was relieved. Otherwise, the girl he had his eye on might have ended up with someone else.

His teasing lightened the mood, and Kateโ€™s cheeks flushed a little. โ€œMr. Wilson, do you have any wine here?โ€

โ€œI do,โ€ he replied.

After that, everything just seemed to fall into place, so smoothly that even Trevor was surprised by how well things went.

Once Kate asked for a drink, Trevor naturally kept her company. She rambled on about her life, and Trevor, careful not to drink too much, became the perfect listener.

โ€œYouโ€™re drunk,โ€ Trevor said gently.

This was where it all began.

The next morning, Kate slowly opened her eyes, feeling his arm draped around her waist. There was no trace of panic or shyness in her gazeโ€”only pure thrill and delight.

She thought, โ€˜I have finally done it. I have taken the first step and gotten close to him at last.

Trevor, just you wait. Iโ€™m here to get my revenge!โ€™

Feeling the movement behind her, Kate quickly masked the hatred in her eyes. She let out a startled cry, clutching the blanket to her chest as if in panic. โ€œMr. Wilson, this is all my fault. I shouldnโ€™t have asked you for a drink.โ€

She sniffled softly, pretending to cry.

Trevorโ€™s heart melted. He remembered how innocent and sweet sheโ€™d looked last night while she was beneath him.

Heโ€™d met plenty of women who tried to act pure and innocent just to please him, but nothing compared to someone who was genuinely like thatโ€”it was so much more satisfying than any act.

He reached out and pulled her into his arms. โ€œItโ€™s not your fault.โ€

Kate kept on crying, her voice trembling as she whispered, โ€œWhat we did was wrong. Youโ€™re already married.

โ€œHow could I have done something like this? Mr. Wilson, Iโ€™ll go tell the director I canโ€™t do this short drama anymore. Iโ€™ll stay far away from you. I wonโ€™t show up and mess up your life.โ€

Trevor felt both pity and affection for her. All those other women heโ€™d met would have done anything to use this connection for their own gain, but not her. She was so naive and pitiful. She actually thought about leaving him.

Trevor said, โ€œAs for my wifeโ€“Sophiaโ€“you probably know a bit about whatโ€™s going on between us. But honestly, I never wanted to marry her. I was set up.โ€

โ€œOf course, saying all this now, I wouldnโ€™t blame you if you didnโ€™t believe me.โ€ He gave a bitter, helpless laugh.

Kate squeezed his hand, her voice unwavering. โ€œI believe you!โ€

She looked at him with absolute conviction. โ€œI believe you. If itโ€™s you saying it, Iโ€™ll believe anything.โ€

If before Trevor had only been interested in Kate as a challenge, now there was a trace of real feeling in his heart. If only Iโ€™d met her sooner, he thought with a silent sigh.
