Chapter 431
It was all part of the plan. Aubree quickly paid for the flowers and turned to hand them to Bowen. โHey, flowers?โ
Bowen, the so-called โpretty boy,โ was momentarily stunned. He looked at the carefully arranged bouquet before him, finding it rather novel. He reached out to take it. โCall me that again?โ
Aubree realized he was talking about the โpretty boyโ part.
โCall you what? Pretty boyโฆโ Aubree played along with a grin, her voice lilting and sweet, full of playful charm.
Even though she was obviously putting on an act to tease him, Bowen found it quite amusing. He grinned. โHowโd you know I like being called that?โ
He never told her about his birthday, and one couldnโt even find it online.
โI asked Ollie,โ Aubree admitted.
โShouldโve known,โ Bowen chuckled.
He gave her a smile, watching Aubree stand there a little nervously. With a sigh, he held the bouquet in one hand and pulled her tightly into his arms with the other, like he wanted to hold her so close sheโd become a part of him.
Bowen said, โIโm not mad or blaming you. I just donโt celebrate my birthday. I used to have a hard time letting go, but itโs been so long now, Iโm not a kid anymore. Iโve moved on. I just donโt want my brother to be alone on this day, so I go to the cemetery to spend some time with him, like I always do. Besides, Iโm not a kid anymore. Birthdays, for me, are just business events in disguise. Thereโs no need.โ
Aubree popped her head out of his embrace, beaming up at him. โWell, your birthdays wonโt be about business anymore from now on.โ
โIf your brother were still here, I bet heโd want to see you actually enjoy every single birthday,โ she said softly.
Bowenโs eyes softened. โSo, youโll take charge of my birthdays from now on?โ
โDeal,โ Aubree replied, wrapping her arms around his neck, rising up on tiptoe, and kissing him.
At that moment, fireworks burst into bloom behind them, painting the night with dazzling colors.
Not far away, a cameraman caught the whole scene on film.
Aubree threw herself back into work and school after Bowenโs birthday. Meanwhile, after Trevor and Sophia got their marriage licenses, Sophia finally married into the Wilson family. But as soon as she got what she wanted, she showed Aubree exactly what it meant to be used and tossed aside.
Sophia sent Aubree a message saying their partnership was over, then blocked and deleted her in one go.
Aubree couldnโt care less. Sophia was no longer of any use to her. Honestly, if theyโd stayed allies, Aubree mightโve even felt a little bad when it came time to make her move against Trevor.
With Trevor and Sophiaโs marriage, the online drama around Trevor had finally died down. The whole mess hadnโt hit him hard. Sure, he had to cough up a ton in breach-of-contract fees and lost a bunch of high-end endorsements. He could kiss this yearโs Best Actor award goodbye, but that was about it.
After laying low for a while, once the storm had completely passed, Trevor made his comeback by showing up on a variety show.
As long as Trevor kept his handsome face and didnโt make any major mistakes, his fans would always have his back. Looks were everything in this business, after all.
A real scandal, huhโฆ Aubree mused, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
Chapter 411
Trevor and Sophia getting married has its ups and downs, she thought. It might have solved Trevorโs crisis for now, but it also meant the two would be publicly tied together until they divorced.
โTrevor can keep himself out of trouble, but can he keep Sophia from stirring up a scandal of her own?โ
The abortion pill Aubree gave Sophia was imported from overseas. It was safe and wouldnโt cause any extra harm to pregnant women. Sophia even had it checked by a doctor before taking it.
However, what Aubree didnโt mention was that when Sophia went for her medical tests during pregnancy, Aubree had Sophiaโs reports reviewed by a specialist. If Sophia lost the baby, itโd be nearly impossible for her to get pregnant again.
