Chapter 427

โ€œCongratulations on going public, prominent entrepreneur.โ€

Aubree stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the city as night fell. The streets below bustled with cars and people, every kind of life on display.

Bowenโ€™s words of congratulations echoed softly in her ear.

How could she even describe the feeling? It was like a beautiful dream sheโ€™d had right before dying in her previous life.

โ€œWell, I, the prominent entrepreneur, will gladly accept congratulations from you, the prominent CEO,โ€ said Aubree, letting out a soft laugh. Dream or not, she was happy right now, and that was all that mattered.

Bowen couldnโ€™t help but laugh, too. Even though he couldnโ€™t see her, just hearing her voice made his expression soften in a way that was almost ridiculous, his gaze impossibly tender. โ€œWhen are you coming back?โ€

โ€œIn a couple of days. I still have some interviews and networking to do here,โ€ Aubree replied. By the time she got back to Rithol City, it would probably be close to his birthday. โ€œWill you spend a whole day with me when I get back?โ€ she asked.

โ€œWill one day be enough?โ€ Bowen asked.

โ€œIt has to be. Mr. Turner, youโ€™re the big boss. Your people are practically fighting each other to do your work for you. Iโ€™m a hardworking person. I have to go to school and work, and I also have to take care of the employees from time to time,โ€ Aubree said.

โ€œAlright,โ€ Bowen replied.

After hanging up, a clever glint flashed in Aubreeโ€™s eyes. Sheโ€™d just figured out how she wanted to celebrate Bowenโ€™s birthday.

Since Bowen couldnโ€™t let go of that day, sheโ€™d get him to try doing something else on it.

If he could move on, that would be the best outcome. If not, that would be fine, too. At least from now on, sheโ€™d be there with him on that day.

After staying in Sรผdlichen Strand for a while, Aubree deliberately timed her return to Rithol City to be close to Bowenโ€™s birthday.

Aubree Miller: [Can you save tomorrow for me? It is the 25th tomorrow.]

Bowen had thought Aubree would be back by the 25th at the latest, but he hadnโ€™t expected her to show up right on the 25th itself.

However, it was the first time Aubree had ever taken the initiative to invite him out, and honestly, he just couldnโ€™t say no to her.

After a fierce battle with himself, Bowen finally replied with a simple [Okay.]

Aubree breathed a huge sigh of relief when she saw his message. She thought, โ€˜Ollie told me Bowen went to the cemetery to accompany his brother and sister-in-law on his birthdays every year. He couldnโ€™t let go of the pain of losing his family and would probably turn me down.โ€™

Aubreeโ€™d even thought it all through. If he did say no, sheโ€™d just come clean and offer to go with him to visit his brother at the cemetery tomorrow.

Luckily, things hadnโ€™t turned out nearly as bad as sheโ€™d imagined.

The next day, when Aubree arrived at the spot she and Bowen had agreed on, she spotted him from afar. He was standing tall and straight under a canopy of ancient, leafy trees, dressed in a sleek black shirt that showed off his long, lean frame. With his hands casually tucked into his pockets, he looked completely at ease. His head slightly bowed and his eyes soft and thoughtful, the very picture of quiet elegance.

Usually, his hair would be slicked back with gel at work, but it was left loose today, falling naturally over his forehead. The breeze ruffled it just enough to make him look effortlessly cool and a little wild, as if he didnโ€™t have a care in the world.

It was the weekend, and not far away, a few young girls, probably students, were blushing and pointing at him, giggling among themselves. Every so often, one of them would squeal, โ€œHeโ€™s so handsome! Is he that celebrity?โ€

Aubree had to bite back a laugh. If Bowen ever tried his luck in showbiz, just his face alone would be enough to make him go viral, even if he was just playing the role of a pretty boy with no real acting chops.

As if sensing her presence, Bowen glanced over at her out of the corner of his eye. When he spotted her, his brows lifted with a hint of devilish, roguish charm, making him look even more irresistibly attractive.

โ€œMy boyfriend is so punctual โ€“ here so early?โ€ Aubree teased, her tone half-joking, half-sweet. Strictly speaking, it was their first formal date, and Aubreeโ€™d put extra effort into her appearance since today was special.
