Chapter 394

Elizabeth frowned slightly. It was a sign of her disapproval at Graceโ€™s lack of self-control in front of everyone. Still, she didnโ€™t actually say anything.

After all, Aubree was also on the receiving end of Graceโ€™s troublemaking.

Grace sneered, โ€œA bug crawling out from some godforsaken corner really thinks sheโ€™s something special. You really believe buying a painting can dress up that rotten aura of yours?

โ€œWhat are you even thinking?

โ€œHugoโ€™s family has always been spotless. You, on the other hand, are filthy to the core. Canโ€™t you have a little self-awareness? Stop latching onto Hugo, will you?โ€

Grace suddenly turned her gaze to Aubree, her face full of mockery. โ€œAnd you!

โ€œSeriously, you two are so alike. So young and already crawling into Bowenโ€™s bed. How shameless can you get? Didnโ€™t your parents ever teach you how to behave?

โ€œOh, I forgot that the famous Ms. Miller is an orphan, so of course, she doesnโ€™t have parentsโ€ฆโ€

โ€˜I can put up with her talking trash about me, but insulting Ms. Miller? Thatโ€™s crossing the line,โ€™ Birgitte thought.

Birgitte raised her hand and slapped Grace across the face.

The sharp sound echoed through the room, and suddenly, everything went quiet.

Grace was absolutely floored that Birgitte would slap her. Elizabeth was just as caught off guard. She hadnโ€™t seen this coming at all. With her standing right there, she thought no matter how upset they were, they wouldnโ€™t actually throw hands.

Snapping back to her senses, Grace shrieked, โ€œBirgitte!โ€

She shouted as she raised her hand, ready to slap back.

But Aubree was faster. She grabbed Graceโ€™s wrist and flung it aside. Aubree let out a small smile. She had to admit, one thing Grace said did hit home. She really was an orphan.

Aubree said coolly, โ€œFor someone with both parents, Ms. Lawson, you sure have less class than an orphan like me.โ€

Birgitte said, her tone cool and authoritative, โ€œGrace, back in Sรผdlichen Strand, I didnโ€™t bother with you not because I was afraid, but because I didnโ€™t want to waste my time on someone so pointless.

โ€œBut if you keep spouting nonsense, trust me, that slap will be just the beginning.โ€ She was a CEO now, and it showed in every word.

Grace stumbled back two steps, realizing with embarrassment and anger that sheโ€™d actually been scared off by Birgitte. Her face flushed with shame.

โ€œFirst you try to stir up drama, then you throw yourself at someone elseโ€™s man, and now you hit me. Birgitte, since when did you get so bold? Acting like a homewrecker and still playing tough?โ€ Grace snapped.

Birgitte looked at her, genuinely confused. โ€œAre you and Hugo even in a relationship?

โ€œNot to mention you and Hugo arenโ€™t even together, but even if you were, nothing has ever happened between us beyond friendship.โ€

โ€œLies! Youโ€™re showing up with gifts and still have the nerve to say thereโ€™s nothing between you two?โ€ Grace bit her lip, her voice shaking with anger.

She and Hugo were childhood sweethearts, and their families had always planned for them to end up together. Ever since she was little, Grace had seen herself as Hugoโ€™s fiancรฉe.

However, she didnโ€™t expect Birgitte to come out of nowhere and mess everything up.

Just thinking about how Hugo told her he only ever saw her as a little sister, and that he already liked someone else, made Graceโ€™s eyes grow even colder.

Grace fumed inwardly, โ€˜What does that slut Birgitte have that I donโ€™t? Just because she slept with some sugar daddy?

โ€˜Sheโ€™s nothing but Aubreeโ€™s sidekick. Aubreeโ€™s a bitch, too. She is barely out of school and already knows how to hook men!โ€™

After all, Bowen was her brother-in-law.

From the conversation just now, Aubree picked up on a few things.

Hugo had probably helped Birgitte out before, so the two had some connection. Grace clearly liked Hugo, but it looked like he wasnโ€™t interested in her, and actually had a better impression of Birgitte.

Since this was Birgitteโ€™s personal matter, Aubree thought that she should stay out of it.

โ€œYouโ€™re nuts,โ€ Birgitte scoffed, not wasting another second on Graceโ€™s drama.
