Chapter 213
He thought he had never given Aubree anything. He was puzzled about what she had gained. Anthony stared blankly at Aubree. Aubree prompted, โMr. Carr, why donโt you take a moment to recall our conversation from that day?โ
Anthony wondered, still puzzled, "What could be wrong with that conversation?"
Anthony replayed the events of that day in his mind, and suddenly his expression froze in shock.
Aubree stated, โWhen Loganโs family comes forward to identify the Rosepoly Group, you will be my witness. I also need solid evidence of the Rosepoly Groupโs tax evasion.โ
Anthony replied, โAlright, Iโll take care of it. However, I expect 150 million dollars."
โYou set me up!" Anthony yelled, his voice filled with rage.
Nothing else mattered. Those two sentences were undeniable evidence of Rosepoly Groupโs tax evasionโand his involvement. No matter how thorough the investigation, everything would ultimately concern him. With Loganโs blood on his hands, Anthony felt a knot form in his throat. "What should I do now? Is it a lifetime behind bars orโฆ"
Aubree said calmly, โUnless something unexpected has occurred, that recording should already be in the hands of the police.โ
โNo!โ Anthony exclaimed in desperation, pleading as he turned to Aubree. โPlease, just let me go! Iโll do anything you ask. Youโre targeting the Wilson family, right? I can help you. After all, Iโve worked for Ronald for years โ I know a thing or two about dealing with him.โ
He believed he could manipulate Aubree to make Ronald deeply regret abandoning him. However, in the end, he became nothing more than a disposable pawn in someone elseโs strategy โ a mere piece to be discarded at any moment.
โMr. Carr, are you attempting to bribe me?โ Aubree pretended to be distressed. โAs a law-abiding citizen, I must respectfully decline your generous offer.โ With a sigh, Aubree stood up. โItโs time to face the consequences. Repent for your actions here.โ
As Aubree exited the interrogation room, Anthony completely lost his composure, his furious curses echoing after her. โAubree Miller, drop dead!โ Anthony shouted, his voice raw with anger. โHow dare you frame me! Just wait, the Wilson family will ruin you! Do you think you can take on the Wilsons? Youโre not even in their league!โ
Aubree walked on, unfazed by Anthonyโs insults, and didnโt spare him a single glance.
As Aubree stepped out, she sneered, thinking, "Defeated by the Wilsons? I fought my way back from hell to settle the score with them!โ She coldly contemplated. "This time, even if it costs me everything, Iโll drag every single member of the Wilson family down with me! Emery, are you ready for this?"
It was a sunny day in Rithol City. Bowen had parked his car outside and was standing beside it. The moment he spotted Aubree coming out, he immediately walked toward her. โAre you alright?โ Bowen asked.
โWhat could go wrong? Can you take me home? I still need to pack for my flight tomorrow. The weather is beautiful today. Emery should take the time to enjoy the view while he canโhe wonโt have many opportunities to see it where heโs headed,โ Aubree said.
Aubreeโs lips formed a devious smile as Bowen gazed at her intently. He was certain โ Emery wouldnโt be able to recover from this one.
In the conference room of Rosepoly Group, Ronald instructed the executives, "The PR department should leverage Anthonyโs arrest to mitigate our losses.โ
โThe stock price is already on the rise. Just hold on for the next few days โ this crisis will soon be behind us.โ
โThank you all for your hard work during this busy year-end period. Iโm pleased to inform you that your annual bonuses have already been credited to your accounts.โ
Ronald turned to Emery and said, โEmery, you were reckless this time. Now that Bryan is back, shadow him for a couple of years, learn from this experience, and ensure you manage Rosepoly Group properly in the future.โ Ronald made it clear to the gathered executives that he planned to hand over control of the Rosepoly Group to Emery.
Emery immediately stated, โI fully accept responsibility and will learn from this experience. I assure you that a crisis of this nature will not occur again at Rosepoly Group.โ
The others quickly joined in, adding their compliments. โMr. Wilson may be young, but heโs destined for success,โ someone praised.
โHow can this possibly be Mr. Wilsonโs fault? Itโs Anthonyโs insatiable greed. Thatโs the real issue. Weโve grown tired of him bossing everyone around the company for a long time.โ
โThatโs rightโฆโ
The sycophantic praises were still resonating in the conference room when the door was suddenly thrown open. โWho are Emery and Ronald Wilson!โ
Emery said, โIโm Emery."
