Listen to this chapter:

Aubree had reserved a private room and was waiting there with Vincent and Birgitte for the investors.

โ€œSorry weโ€™re late.โ€ Atlas Cohen hurried in with two sharply dressed men. One was an older gentleman with graying temples, while the other, exuding confidence and presence, appeared to be about the same age as Bowen.

Mlas beamed. โ€œThese are the two investors Iโ€™d like to introduce to Aubree. One is Ronald Wilson, a renowned entrepreneur from Pithol City, and the other is his son, Bryan, who is every bit as impressive as his father.โ€

โ€œMr. Wilson represents the Wilson Group, while Bryan is here on behalf of his own company, Prakru Group.โ€

At his words, two all too familiar faces appeared before her.

โ€œItโ€™s them,โ€ Aubree thought. Her face instantly darkened, her expression turning thunderous.

Her two colleagues, who had come with her to handle the matter, immediately tensed up, fully aware of the long-standing feud between Aubree and the Wilson family.

Atlas had approached them on his own initiative. As a well-known investment broker in Rithol City, he specialized in connecting funding with potential investors.

But they never expected the investors he introduced would turn out to be the Wilson family.

โ€œHi, Aubree,โ€ Ronald and Bryan greeted as they walked in.

Atlas, still oblivious to the tension in the room, continued cheerfully, โ€œI doubt these gentlemen need much introduction, Aubree. Their reputation surely precedes them.โ€

Atlas said enthusiastically, โ€œMr. Wilson, Bryan, Iโ€™m sure youโ€™re both well aware of how explosively popular Aubreeโ€™s Playry project is right now. The growth potential is simply phenomenal.โ€

A stellar project and formidable investorsโ€“Atlas was convinced this brokered deal was a match made in heaven.

โ€œWith you two teaming up, itโ€™s like adding wings to a tiger,โ€ he added.

Aubreeโ€™s face darkened. โ€œCooperate with the Wilson family? Not even in my wildest dreams,โ€ she fumed inwardly. She should only blame herself for not checking who the investors were in advance.

โ€œDonโ€™t tell me itโ€™s just a coincidence that you two ended up as my investors,โ€ Aubree asked, her voice icy.

Atlas grew flustered. โ€œCoincidence? What do you mean, Aubree? Mr. Wilson and Bryan are clearly here for investment cooperation. Shouldnโ€™t we at least maintain some professional courtesy?โ€

Aubree glanced at him.

โ€œIf the investors are the Wilson family, then with all due respect, Mr. Cohen, this partnership simply wonโ€™t be possible.โ€

Atlas frowned. โ€œMs. Miller, this isnโ€™t a joke. Are you saying these two donโ€™t have what it takes to invest in your project?โ€

โ€œOf course not. When it comes to capability, who in all of Rithol City could possibly match these two oh-so-important people?โ€ Her tone sounded like praise, but dripped with sarcasm.

Aubree thought mockingly, โ€œWho would dare question the oh-so-mighty Wilson familyโ€™s power!โ€

Ronald and Bryan clearly caught the sarcasm in her words and were both a little embarrassed.

Atlas was even more baffled and wondered, โ€œWho in their right mind would turn down that much money?โ€

Aubree shot him a cold look. โ€œMr. Cohen, did you even bother to look into my background?โ€

โ€œHonestly, I didnโ€™t look into that,โ€ Atlas admitted awkwardly.

Bryan said with feigned concern, โ€œAubree, donโ€™t be like this. Dad and I only came here to help you.โ€

โ€œExactly. If you need investment, we can provide whatever you want,โ€ Ronald chimed in eagerly.

Originally, Ronald had planned to force Aubree to willingly hand over Bree Technology.

Gareth had also proactively extended an olive branch to Ronald. But just as he had everything planted out, news broke that Aubree was seeking investment.

Given the circumstances, Ronald didnโ€™t mind giving her a chance as long as she knew what was good for her. After all, he still had some paternal affection left for her.

After all, if Ronald had to resort to a hostile takeover, Bree Technology would surely suffer devaluation once it was in his handsโ€“and heโ€™d be the one taking the financial hit.

โ€œHelp me?โ€ Aubree scoffed inwardly, an inexplicable surge of anger rising within her. The longer she looked at the Wilson family, the more her disgust grew.

In the past, theyโ€™d just been cruel and abusive, always showing blatant favoritism toward Carmen. She used to chalk it up to personal preference and simply paid them back in kind.
