Chapter 144

Ronald said, โ€œBryan must have already told you about Playzyโ€™s vulnerabilities. As long as you remain with the Wilson family as my daughter, the Wilson Group will step in and handle this trouble for you.โ€

Ronald paused, his expression softening. โ€œAubree, I still remember how happy you were when you first came home and finally found your family. And now, are you really going to abandon us?โ€

Aubree remained unmoved, a faint, cynical smile even touching her lips. Three years ago, she had believed nothing in the world mattered more than these so-called family members before her.

Back then, in her old life, she had bent over backward for them, no matter how low she had to stoop, just craving their approval. But what she got in return was nothing but abuse to the point of death.

โ€œI can manage my company just fine,โ€ Aubree shot back. โ€œAs for ditching this so-called family? Ronald, you abandoned me first. Since you all despised me so much, whatโ€™s wrong with me walking away from you?"

โ€œJust sign these two agreements already. Search your conscience. Do I owe the Wilson family anything?โ€

Ronald was rendered speechless.

โ€œWe raised you for three years,โ€ Alice roared in fury and wondered, โ€œHow could Aubree be so ungrateful? She is just an ungrateful wretch.โ€

Aubree shot back at Alice, her voice icy with contempt, โ€œAre you senile? Do I really need to spell out what I went through these past three years?

โ€œOh, so this is what you call raising me for three years? Starving, forced to stand in the corner every three days, beaten black and blue every five. Even a stray dog wouldnโ€™t be treated this way.โ€

Alice fell silent, her face darkening with rage and embarrassment. She suddenly remembered all the ways she had disciplined Aubree.

โ€˜But even then, so what?โ€™ Alice thought defiantly. โ€˜As her mother, everything I didโ€”even hitting and scoldingโ€”is for her own good. Carmen turns out just fine under my discipline.โ€™

Aubree tossed the documents at their feet, her gaze fixed on them. โ€œTake my advice. Signing would be in your best interest. Trust me, it wonโ€™t be nearly as civil.โ€

Both escape routes were sealed. Ronald was trapped. He stared intently at the documents at his feet.

If this goes to court...

โ€˜I canโ€™t sign this,โ€™ he thought. โ€˜Aubree is now backed by the Turner family and has Bree Technology in her hands. How could I possibly sign?โ€™

Once the papers were signed, Aubreeโ€™s entire futureโ€”everything she had and would ever haveโ€”would be completely severed from the Wilson family.

Ronald took a deep breath and bent down to pick up the documents from the floor. His eyes gleamed with terrifying malice. After dominating the business world for decades, he never imagined heโ€™d be tricked by his daughter.

โ€˜Like father, like daughter?โ€™ Ronald thought bitterly.

โ€œNo,โ€ Emery cried out in despair, mistakenly thinking Ronald was about to sign.

โ€˜Even after Bryan went that far, he still couldnโ€™t win Aubree back. She utterly despises the Wilson family,โ€™ he wondered, โ€˜Right, what Aubree truly despises is the Wilson family. If I werenโ€™t a Wilson, would she finally look at me differently?โ€™

Emery pleaded, โ€œAubree, if youโ€™re really going to cut ties with the Wilson family, how about I come with you? Iโ€™ll leave the family too. From now on, as your brother, Iโ€™ll take care of you. No one will ever bully you again.โ€

Aubreeโ€™s expression instantly turned icy. โ€œIโ€™m not some refuge for rejects. Even if you dropped dead right in front of me, it wouldnโ€™t mean a damn thing to me. Donโ€™t you dare try to emotionally blackmail me.โ€

Emeryโ€™s heart shattered into pieces. All eyes locked on Ronald as they wondered what he would do next.

With a violent motion, Ronald tore all the documents to shreds, scattering the fragments across the floor.

Shredded paper scattered across the floor as Ronald tore all the documents to pieces. โ€œName your price. Iโ€™ll give you anything,โ€ he snapped, โ€œbut cutting ties with the Wilson family? Thatโ€™s absolutely out of the question.โ€

Alice let out a quiet sigh of relief. โ€˜Aubree is still my daughter, after all,โ€™ she thought. โ€˜How could I ever truly sever ties with her?โ€™

Alice snapped, โ€œWeโ€™re your family, Aubree. Thatโ€™s never going to change, not in this lifetime. If you want to take this to court, just go. Donโ€™t think the Wilson family is an easy target.โ€

Caesar might have an undefeated record, but that was only because he had never faced the likes of the Wilson family.

Ronald seethed. โ€˜Time to teach Aubree a lesson,โ€™ he wondered.

โ€˜Even a saint has their limits,โ€™ she wondered.

โ€œFuck,โ€ Aubree swore, her fury boiling over. โ€œSince youโ€™re spurning my goodwill, youโ€™ll regret this. So you refuse to sever ties, huh? Donโ€™t say I didnโ€™t warn you when you regret this.โ€

Ronaldโ€™s expression turned to ice. โ€˜Signing this would be my only real regret,โ€™ he seethed inwardly.
