Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Rowan’s lips curved into a cold grin. "Obviously, we’re going to watch something entertaining." The Fairchild family’s banquet was unlikely to go as smoothly as they hoped.
Stella met his gaze for a few seconds before abruptly smiling. "Sounds good!" Now that she thought about it, the Fairchild family had probably been trying to reach her. But since she didn’t have her phone with her, and they wouldn’t dare to barge into Rowan’s house to make a scene, she’d been able to enjoy this rare moment of peace. However, she was bound to meet them sooner or later. She figured that, instead of waiting for them to seek her out, she’d rather show up and let them see exactly who they were dealing with.
Rowan held her on the balcony for a while before carrying her back to the bedroom, coaxing her into getting more sleep. The banquet was at noon, so there was still plenty of time. Once she was asleep, he got up to make breakfast. Then, he went to his study.
His phone had exploded after his Twitter post went viral last night, but he’d switched it off and ignored it. After he restarted his device, he called his parents, who were away traveling the world. Then, he replied to some messages from friends.
Stella woke up when it was nearly 10:00 am. By then, Rowan had already arranged for a custom gown and a full set of high-end jewelry to be delivered. A few stylists had also arrived and had been waiting for her. She wasn’t too surprised, though; Rowan had always been incredibly efficient.
After she washed up and had a light breakfast, she sat down as the stylist began working on her hair and makeup. Rowan lounged on the sofa with one leg crossed over the other, eyes fixed on his phone as he typed away, completely absorbed in whatever he was doing.
Since the dress was a red, strapless gown, the stylists gave Stella a slightly more dramatic look to match it. Her lips were painted red, her brows were shaded darker, and a tiny red beauty mark was drawn at the corner of her eye. The bold makeup accentuated her already striking features, making her beauty dazzling. Her long, curled hair cascaded in waves, and the dress perfectly hugged her figure. Compared to yesterday’s soft, pastel princess look, she looked absolutely stunning today.
"Rowan, do I look good?" Stella asked.
Rowan looked up from his phone, and his gaze darkened instantly. Stella looked stunning, sensuous, and graceful, with perfectly defined features. He put his phone away, rose up, and walked toward her. He tilted his head slightly and watched her intently. After a while, he nodded and smiled at her. "You look incredible." Then, he stepped closer, hooked a finger under her chin, and pressed a soft kiss to the corner of her eye. His voice was gentle as he complimented her, "My darling, you’re breathtaking."
He had chosen this dress for her because it was their first day as a married couple. Naturally, she had to wear red. The color suited her perfectly. And exactly as he had imagined, she looked so beautiful that he almost regretted his decision. He didn’t want Randy to see her like this.
But then, another thought crossed his mind. Randy should see her. This wasn’t just about flaunting. He wanted to make those lonely keyboard warriors on the Internet jealous of him. Rowan wanted to let the whole world know that he loved Stella with all his heart. More importantly, he wanted Randy to fully understand that she was his, and his alone, from this moment forward.
The stylists standing nearby blushed furiously. Even though nothing too intimate had happened, the atmosphere was so tender and romantic that it made their faces burn. Rowan and Stella were so genuinely sweet together that it proved all the online skeptics—those who still refused to believe their love was real—completely wrong.
