Chapter 84
Alicia heard my outrageous words, and I immediately snapped at Elise, "How dare you talk to Mr. Fond Senior like that!"
She looked anxious and rushed to Tabard, gently supporting him. "Mr. Fond Senior, are you alright?"
He shook his head, his expression conveying, "I'm fine, don't worry—"
Then, he fixed his cold gaze on me. "Elise, what exactly are you trying to do?"
"I'm not trying to do anything."
Frederick signaled to me that my task was done. Naturally, I didn’t want to deal with him again.
"Since you don't want to see me, I'll be going now."
With that, I quickly turned and left. But to my surprise, Edward ordered someone to block my way. "Elise, what are you really up to?"
I stopped, feigning innocence. "I don't understand what you mean."
He raised his voice. "Ever since your suicide attempt, you’ve become completely unreasonable! You weren’t great before either, but at least you knew how to respect me and Jonathan! What exactly do you want now? Do you really think throwing tantrums will make him change his mind?"
"First of all," I halted, looking coldly at Edward, "Let me make one thing clear. I don’t care whether Jonathan changes his mind, or became Eve—"
Alicia continued supporting Edward, her eyes filled with worry.
I don’t know why I once insisted on forcing myself into this family. Wouldn’t it be better if the three of them lived their lives peacefully! I already decided…
"Mr. Fond Senior, if you care so much about Alicia, do her a favor and stop letting her be Jonathan's sister. Let Jonathan marry her, I’m sure they’d be happy and love you ever more wholeheartedly."
As soon as my words fell, Edward's face twisted into an expression of pure rage.
