I secretly clenched my fists, planning to punch Jonathan the moment he leaned in. But after a long stare, he did nothing. He simply wrapped an arm around me and lay down beside me. I froze, then immediately struggled. "Let go of me," I demanded coldly. Jonathan remained silent, but his hold tightened. With every slight movement, I felt the changes in his body. My anger and helplessness were palpable. "If you don't want anything to happen, then stop moving, Elise." His words, along with the pain in my wrist, fueled my despair.
Jonathan and I were legally married. Despite being an eighteen-year-old who'd never held a man's hand, I'd noticed over the past few days that twenty-five-year-old Elise and Jonathan had a normal married life. To everyone, I was hopelessly in love with him. To him, spending every day with me, it likely seemed even more so. He didn't know about my amnesia. He probably thought I was playing hard-to-get. If I provoked him… I held my breath, forcing myself to calm down and stay still. I had to make it through this.
After leaving the hotel, Jonathan ignored my protests, sending me straight back to the Ford residence. He had urgent company business, taking a call and leaving in a hurry. Before departing, he instructed me to stay home. As he was about to enter his car, I rolled my eyes. He paused, catching me. His gaze darkened. I spun and fled back inside. Bob hurried after me. "Ms. Sawyer, Mr. Ford has a very important meeting—" I interrupted, seating myself on the couch, "What has that got to do with me?" Bob stared, astonished by my reaction. "Ms. Sawyer, you used to want to know Mr. Ford's every move…"
I gaped at him. "I wanted to track Jonathan's every move?" I couldn't believe it, assuming Bob was fabricating. "Jonathan is the CEO of a huge public company. Even if I wanted to, how could I possibly manage?" Bob looked even more surprised. "So you do realize that too?" he said. "Yes, Ms. Sawyer. I told you that, but you didn't believe me. You insisted on knowing every detail—" I cut him off. "Alright. From today onward, what he does is none of my business." I waved dismissively. "Go. I don't need you following me." Bob looked conflicted. "I'm sorry, Ms. Sawyer. But Mr. Ford ordered me to ensure you stay here until he returns."
This enraged me. "Is he putting me under house arrest?" "That's not what he meant—" I cut him off again, his smooth explanations growing tiresome. "Enough!" I was frustrated. With Jonathan keeping me confined, how was I supposed to prepare divorce papers? After a moment, I said, "Bring me to Jonathan's office." He seemed alarmed. "Mr. Ford is very busy, Ms. Sawyer. As for the pool, he'll make it up to you!" His unusual reaction made me stare at him before I finally laughed mockingly. "You're so determined to keep me away from the company… Alicia's there, isn't she?" Bob fell silent.
