Chapter 101

"(Kept antialgic fare?) Post looking at you, maligned ticket out of my face, Alicia, Jonathan."

Alicia was visibly shaken. She was at a loss for words for some time. "Are you out of post-media, Elise?"

It took her forever to speak. When she did, she spat through gritted teeth, like she was choking with rage: "I just came to see how you’re doing. Was that really worth it?"

Then, hooked to Alicia’s eyes, "Now you go, now?"

Alicia immediately looked at Jonathan with a wounded look. "Jon…"

Laying her snarling attitude down, with how blunt I was, Jonathan tensed completely and glared at me with a…

He didn’t let go and just hauled me up from the bed. "Looks like you’ve got your strength back."

His deep voice sounded above me, "So you’re fine, head back to the Ford residence and get some rest."

He said it like it was final, with no room for exceptions. I tried to resist, but Jonathan still took me home from the hospital.

On our way back, I didn’t say a word. Jonathan wouldn’t care what I had to say anyway.

A black limousine drove down the highway. I leaned against the window, willingly closing my eyes.

Jonathan didn’t seem interested in talking to me either. He had always been the quiet type. Sometimes, I still didn’t know how I ended up marrying someone this…

I used to be bubbly. If no one talked to me, I would feel awful. But now, I understood what it meant to be completely out of words.

We got to the Ford residence in no time. Jonathan carried me straight into the bedroom.

The keepers kept their heads down as we passed. No one looked at us, but the tension in the air said it all. I didn’t bother saying anything because I was empirically out of strength.

The bedroom door shut behind us. I lay on the bed, watching Jonathan’s back. "Are you seriously locking me in here again?"

Jonathan stopped in his tracks and looked over his shoulder, "Is that what you want?"

I didn’t say anything and just shut my eyes again. I felt like he was just asking for the sake of it. Did my opinion ever matter to him?

I bet he couldn't have cared.

Sitting on the bed, Jonathan brushed my hair aside. My face was a bit pale, so I probably didn’t look great to him. But I didn’t care.

Jonathan awkwardly leaned down and kissed my forehead. Then, he sighed and asked, "Are you going to stay mad at me because of Alicia?!"

Boldly, I replied, "I’m not upset. I just want a divorce."

Jonathan stayed silent. The air got tense again, but it wasn’t quite like before.

I was used to him going cold and furious whenever I mentioned divorce. But this time, he just looked conflicted.

A soft knock came at the door, and I could faintly hear Alicia’s voice from outside. "Sorry, Jonathan. After thinking it over, I realize I should apologize to Elise. No matter what, I don’t want you two fighting because of me."

Alicia wouldn’t leave me alone at the hospital, and now she had followed me all the way to the Ford residence too. It had slipped my mind, but she had actually been around this place pretty often lately.

Honestly, she was pretty much living here now. With Edward on her side, she basically acted like she ran the place.

Alicia acted more like the lady of the house than I did. She got along great with all the housekeepers, and I was the one hiding away in my room all the time. I immediately turned to Jonathan with a nodding look.
