Chapter 43
White foam immediately filled the sky. Justin, shocked by Noelle’s actions, turned pale. “Noelle, what on earth are you doing?” he asked. Although a wealthy playboy accustomed to seeing all sorts of things, he’d never seen a woman rush him with a fire extinguisher.
After Noelle extinguished the candles, she turned to him with annoyance. “I don’t like you, and I don’t wish to see such childish gestures outside my school gates.” Already annoyed by her period, Justin and Xenia’s approach had further irritated her.
Justin said, “Noelle, you’re quite interesting. I really like you and your personality!”
She turned, aimed the extinguisher at him, and deployed it. The shock caused Justin to curse loudly, while his followers rushed to shield him. She threw the extinguisher down, saying coldly, “Stop bothering me.” Their exams loomed, and she refused to waste time on men like Justin.
“Noelle, how could you do that to Justin? He publicly confessed his feelings. Even if you don’t reciprocate, you shouldn’t humiliate him like this,” Xenia interjected.
Noelle frowned. “This has nothing to do with you. You can fuck off as well!” Xenia, surprised by Noelle’s anger, looked confused.
Noelle brushed the foam from her hands, finding the smell disgusting. Since speaking with Donovan the previous day, controlling her emotions had become much harder.
Noelle started to leave, but Justin, humiliated, shouted, “Noelle, stand right there! Who the fuck said you could leave?” She walked away defiantly, ignoring him.
Feeling embarrassed, Justin turned to his lackeys. “What are you all staring at? Grab her! I’ll teach her a lesson. Does she think she can mess with me and leave unscathed?”
Xenia watched coldly, thinking Noelle an idiot for rejecting Justin so harshly. She anticipated Noelle’s difficult days ahead and hoped it would affect her exams.
Suddenly, Lucas ran across the road, his expression dark. “I’d like to see who dares lay a hand on her!”
Noelle was stunned, remembering Lucas’s message to meet at the cafe. She’d ignored and deleted it, never expecting him to appear.
Lucas stormed over, glaring at Justin. “You little punk. How dare you set your sights on my sister? Have you asked her six brothers for permission?”
Justin, uneasy but condescending due to his Yasnian background, snarled, “Your sister aimed a fire extinguisher at me. How should we settle this?”
Lucas retorted, “I saw everything. You harassed my sister first. She used the extinguisher to prevent a fire hazard, and to stop your harassment. Her actions were reasonable. Even with your connections, we’re in Aldoria. Stop making a fuss.”
Justin’s expression changed. “I dare you to say that again.”
Xenia intervened. “Lucas, Mr. Parham wasn’t solely at fault. Noelle could have rejected him politely. Using a fire extinguisher was excessive, don’t you think?”
Justin seized the opportunity. “Exactly! I have plenty of admirers. Why would I obsess over one girl? Seeing her temper, I’ve lost interest!”
Lucas frowned at Xenia. Something about her words bothered him. He questioned why Noelle, the harassed party, had to refuse Justin “politely.” She owed him nothing.
