Listen to this chapter:

“You must miss me too much.” Yarrick gently brushed his fingers over Hailey’s forehead, reluctantly letting go of her hand.

Just as Yarrick was about to leave, the nurse entered the room again.

“Mr. Yarrick, Hailey’s eyelids were fluttering just now. It went on for a while, but she didn’t open her eyes.”

“Yeah, and her grip on my hand got a little stronger too. I really feel like she’ll wake up at any moment.”

“Thank you so much, Mr. Yarrick.” Yarrick slung his backpack over his shoulder, waved to the nurse, and then left the room.

“That handsome gay. If he were my boyfriend, that would be amazing. He’s so patient and has such a good temperament.” The nurse admired Yarrick as he walked away.

After leaving the hospital, Yarrick caught a bus to rush back to campus.

Graduation had concluded, and at that moment, it felt like the years and the money they had invested in his education were slipping away. His thoughts were fixed on his upcoming job and also Hailey.

He couldn’t quite pinpoint the reason. But after spending so much time with Hailey, he found himself increasingly comfortable with her presence despite her unexpected appearance in his life. Hailey had seamlessly integrated into his routine. Almost a month had passed since their wedding, and although she remained bedridden and unable to wake, Hailey was gradually improving. If everything went well, waiting for another three months was entirely possible. And perhaps, against all odds, her body might even achieve a full recovery.

As Yarrick stepped onto campus, he received a call from Selena. “Hello? Selena, how are you?”

“Oh, yes, Selena. I’ve graduated and will be moving out tomorrow.”

“I see. Where are you staying? Would you like us to help you find a place?”

“Oh, thank you. I’ve rented a room with a classmate near the hospital. It’s enough for us. I really appreciate your offer.”

Yarrick was determined not to exploit Selena for personal matters. This time, he politely declined Selena’s help even though he knew she genuinely wanted to assist him.

visiting her regularly, by the way.

wake up at any moment.”

After all, they were already married. She was his wife, legally.

“Yarrick! What did you say there?!”

was improving. When I saw her today, her eyes…

Although he thought the routine of visiting Hailey and talking to her was simple, it was a means of comforting himself. Selena’s help didn’t comfort him.

“Hmm, I’m already aware of all that. The doctors have informed me. Thank you so much, Yarrick. You’re truly kind. It would’ve been fantastic if Hailey had met you sooner,” Selena remarked.

The following morning, after a quick breakfast with Michael, Yarrick started unpacking his luggage. He had already arranged for a small truck to assist with their transport by the time they finished moving. It was already six in the morning.

It felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate.

“Yarrick, let’s grab a drink!” Now that they had graduated, secured jobs, and rented an apartment. “Dude, it’s already noon, man.” Yarrick glanced at his watch, surprised that it was already close to noon. He started panicking. “Michael, I need to get to the hospital, so I won’t be able to…”

“It’s not a problem at all. Go ahead. I noticed there are several shops near the neighborhood entrance, so I’ll find something for myself.”

Yarrick rushed to the master bedroom’s bathroom and quickly freshened up before heading straight for the hospital.

He couldn’t quite explain why, but he just felt the need to see Hailey as soon as possible and talk to her for a little longer. Perhaps it was due to their marriage, or perhaps it was because of…

The New Heights Residence was very close to the hospital, so it didn’t take long for him to arrive.

packing, I came straight here. I didn’t even get a chance to eat lunch.” As he stepped into the ward, Yarrick sat by Hailey’s bedside, gently taking Hailey’s hand.

Her hand felt slightly warm, and her face appeared slightly rosier than before.

In a moment of surprise, Yarrick instinctively touched Hailey’s face, and indeed, it felt considerably warmer. “Honey, are you feeling unwell?”

Yarrick glanced toward the door. The doctor and nurse were not around. He wondered whether they had missed this obvious change. Surely, it would have been apparent during the…

As he was pondering, the door to the ward opened. A nurse walked in, holding a clipboard.

“Yarrick, what did you notice?” The nurse looked at Yarrick, her eyes sparkling with a smile.

The nurse couldn’t help but chuckle at Yarrick’s obvious concern for his wife.
