Chapter 239

"I know," Evelyn said, suppressing her insecurities. For now, the only way to find out was to ask Grace. She needed to discover the exact nature of Grace's relationship with Brian.

That night, after Grace finished washing up and left the bathroom, she noticed a light shining through a crack in the door between the two rooms. Was Jason back? she wondered, raising her hand to knock. She wanted to talk to him about the driver.

However, the door wasn't fully closed. Her knock pushed it open, revealing a large projection screen showing a video conference with numerous foreign participants. They all stared at her.

"There's a woman! Oh my God, why is a woman here so late at night?" someone exclaimed in surprise.

"Jason, is this your lover?"

"How about an introduction?"

"This can't be the woman who called in during the last meeting."

A cacophony of sounds filled the room before Jason abruptly muted the audio. However, Grace could still see the participants staring curiously.

"Yes?" Jason asked, turning to her.

"Well… I'm sorry to interrupt your meeting," she said awkwardly, realizing she'd interrupted a video conference.

"It's all right," he replied. "If you need something, just say so."

"You don't have to have the driver pick me up for work tomorrow. I can take the bus," she said.

He raised an eyebrow slightly. "Why? You take a four-wheeled bus. The driver also uses a four-wheeled car. What's the difference?"

Of course, it was different!

"It's… too conspicuous," she hesitated.

He pondered for a moment. "Which car did the driver pick you up in today?"

"The silver Maybach," she replied.

"All right, I'll speak to the driver and arrange for a less noticeable car," he said.

Grace was speechless. That wasn't the point at all.

"What I was trying to…"

"Does Sis want me to drive you?" Jason sprang to his feet, approaching her. He bent over with a faint smile, his face suddenly close to hers. "If that's what you want, so be it."

Grace's face flushed crimson. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the video conference participants curiously watching and whispering amongst themselves.
