Chapter 150

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, itโ€™s fine,โ€ Grace answered. โ€œBecause everyone at the Sanitation Service Center already knows about the accident that caused Jennifer Atkinsonโ€™s death and my three years in prison.โ€

The man reclining on the sofa held his cheek with one hand and a glass of red wine in the other, sipping occasionally. He looked beautiful and innocent, with an alluring quality emanating from between his brows. It was as if a single glance from him could ensnare anyone in the tightly woven net of his eyes.

โ€œUnable to escape, I willingly fell into his trap.โ€

โ€œAnd itโ€™s no wonder so many prominent ladies in Emerald City have feelings for him!โ€ Patrick studied Jason, drinking alone, and sighed inwardly. โ€œBut those feelings rarely translate into action. Those who have taken action have irritated Mr. Reed and ended up miserable, even becoming a laughingstock in Emerald City.โ€

โ€œWhy are you here drinking alone? If youโ€™re here to meet friends, you should at least bring that woman. I really want to meet her. What kind of woman could make you abandon your Old Master on Thanksgiving?โ€ Patrick asked.

โ€œIโ€™m so curious about this woman. Jason said it was just a phone game, no reason to meet her. Butโ€ฆ Iโ€™ve never seen Jason play games with other women!โ€ Patrick was dubious.

Gripping his wine glass, Jasonโ€™s fingers faltered slightly. He raised his breathtakingly beautiful eyes and stared at Patrick with a faint smile. โ€œOh, do you really want to meet her?โ€

Patrickโ€™s hair stood on end; a sense of crisis arose. โ€œIf I nod now, Iโ€™ll come to no good end. Itโ€™s as if what I just said broke a taboo. A woman is Jasonโ€™sโ€ฆ taboo? Does that mean sheโ€™s important to him, or am I overthinking things?!โ€

Deciding he was overthinking, Patrick flashed Jason an embarrassed smile. โ€œI donโ€™t want to meet her. Happy?โ€

As they spoke, two figures entered. Patrick hastily changed the subject. โ€œItโ€™s Brian, that kid. Heโ€™s bringing that new girlfriend again. Why does this kid keep finding starlets as girlfriends? He makes one famous, then finds another. How many does he want to make famous?โ€

Patrick was speechless at the speed of Brianโ€™s girlfriend changes. Brian doted on each girlfriend, giving them anything they wanted. However, breakups were frustratingly frank and ruthless. Some even called him heartless; heโ€™d lavish attention on a woman, then cast her aside like an old shoe.

Evelyn took Brianโ€™s arm and entered the magnificent banquet hall.

โ€œI never dreamed of visiting such places. Now Iโ€™m nurtured by the film crew, and Brian says I can be the female lead in my next television series. Itโ€™s like winning the lottery! Before, I had to curry favor with screenwriters, assistant directors, and directors just to get more dialogue. Even drinking and laughing with them wasnโ€™t always enough. Now, Brianโ€™s word makes me the female lead. But my biggest prize is being Brianโ€™s girlfriend! The only thing I regret is that although Brian is meticulously attentive, buying me designer bags and luxury clothes, whenever I try to be intimate, he calmly says, โ€˜Thereโ€™s no need for that.โ€™โ€
