Chapter 967
Debra was busy packing her luggage for her trip back to Seamar City when the sudden ring of her phone broke the silence. Glancing at the screen, she saw an unfamiliar number flash across it. Without hesitation, she declined the call. However, her phone rang again.
She frowned and answered. Lizaโs voice came through, her tone as imperious as ever.
โDebra, I need to see you right now. Meet me at the Legacy Hotel.โ
โMiss Eaton, whatโs this all about now? Iโm not in the mood for your games tonight. I have an early morning flight back to Seamar City.โ
โI donโt care,โ Liza insisted, her voice unusually urgent. โI have to see you to apologize for what happened, and there is another important matter. It involves Marion, and you should come quickly.โ
Then the line went dead. Debra stared at her phone and pondered.
Marion, who had just finished tidying up the bedroom, walked in.
โWho was that?โ
โLiza.โ
โWhat does she want now?โ
โShe said she needed to talk to me about something important. Sheโs asked me to meet her at the Legacy Hotel.โ
She put down her phone and resumed packing.
โSo, are you going?โ
โI think so.โ
โThen Iโm coming with you.โ
โItโs between ladies. Iโll handle it.โ She shook her head, handing him a bundle of clothes. โHere, take these. Make sure theyโre neatly packed when I get back.โ
Marion smiled helplessly. โGot it.โ
Debra grabbed her phone and left.
At night, the parking lot of the Legacy Hotel was eerily empty. Debra parked her car by the curb, where two men in black suits and sunglasses stood waiting. As she stepped out of her car, they approached her.
โMs. Frazier, our lady requests a change of venue for your meeting.โ
Debraโs gaze flicked to the family crest embroidered on their suits. โAlright, lead the way.โ
A black sedan was parked nearby, its driver already seated and ready. Debra slid into the backseat and looked out the window. The two men exchanged a look before joining her in the van.
The car began to veer toward the outskirts of the city, but Debra showed no signs of distress. Her relaxed look made the two men dismiss the thought of knocking her unconscious. Finally, breaking the silence, she asked, โAre we almost there? Iโm on a tight schedule.โ
โAlmost,โ one of the bodyguards replied.
The car soon came to a stop outside an abandoned factory. The two men stepped out and opened the door for Debra. She got out, took in her surroundings, and laughed. Previously, she couldnโt understand why Drake and Kale faced the danger with such ease when their car was tampered with. Now she understood. Some things, when experienced frequently, become familiar. Being kidnapped had become a common occurrence for her without her even realizing it.
โSo, where is Edgar?โ she asked.
