Chapter 65
Shelia nervously nudged Carrie. โCome on, stop talking.โ Carrie shrugged it off. Debra didnโt even notice Shelia at first; she saw an empty spot and took it. As she passed them, Debra noticed Shelia deliberately keeping her head down. Carrie stood up, blocking Debraโs path.
โDo we know each other?โ Debra asked in a pleasant tone, but there wasnโt a smile on her face.
โI naturally know you, call girl. Everyone else here does,โ Carrie raised her voice, making sure everyone around could hear. The scandal on the bulletin board had caused quite a stir, and most of the students had learned about it. Unperturbed, Debra waited for Carrie to finish speaking.
โSomeone like you, who climbs the ladder using her looks and connections, should leave Arcane Academy. This isnโt your place! Donโt bring shame to our school!โ
โYeah, if this gets to the Education Bureau, you will be done for. Even those you bribed will be held accountable!โ Wendy echoed.
Sheliaโs heart pounded in her chest. Debra raised an eyebrow, glancing at Shelia, who sat silently. If the others didnโt know her, Shelia surely did. Under such scrutiny, Shelia felt guilty and spoke up, โCarrie, you canโt accuse others without evidence.โ
โShelia, stay out of this!โ Carrie proclaimed herself righteous, sneering, โWomen like her who snatch boyfriends and look for sugar daddies donโt deserve our kindness!โ
โOh?โ Debra glanced at Shelia, whose face instantly turned ashen. Snatching boyfriends, looking for sugar daddiesโฆ It was the first time Debra had been labeled like this.
โCarrie, please stop.โ Shelia was on the verge of tears, but to Carrie, it looked like she was deeply hurt by Debraโs presence.
โDonโt be afraid, Shelia! With me here, she wonโt dare touch you!โ Carrie glared at Debra. โDo you think I donโt know why youโre here at this school? I wonโt let you hurt my friend.โ
The commotion attracted a crowd of onlookers.
โWhatโs all the fuss about?โ A cold voice cut through the chatter. Debra saw the surrounding students parting to make way. She turned, surprised to see Jordan approaching.
This was a commonerโs cafeteria, mostly attended by students of modest means. Despite Arcane Academy being prestigious, there were different tiers, and students like Shelia, with little income, could only afford this canteen. Wealthy students rarely frequented this place. That was why Debra was so surprised to see Jordan there. She had been keeping a low profile, trying to experience life. Is it the same for Jordan? She didnโt think so.
โJโJordan?โ Carrie couldnโt believe her eyes. When she confirmed it, she instantly lost her confidence.
