Chapter 515
Ralph took a deep breath. โYes, the key is mine. Itโs just a regular key to the warehouse. Nothing valuable.โ
โTo the warehouse or the ancestral hall?โ
Ralphโs expression shifted, and Debra pressed on. โI donโt want to beat around the bush. Did you steal the key from my father?โ
โPreposterous! He gave it to me.โ
Ralph stood up in agitation, but Marion stared him down. โSit down.โ
Ralphโs bravado deflated like a punctured balloon, and he timidly sat back down. โDebra, even though I did bad things, Iโm still your uncle. How could I steal from my own brother?โ
โTo pay off gambling debts, what wouldnโt you do? If you could harm me, you might not hesitate to harm my father.โ
Ralphโs face darkened. โWhat do you mean? Suspect that I was responsible for his death?โ
Marionโs voice was like thunder, his expression stormy. โIt seems you wonโt speak honestly.โ
Ralph, frightened, gritted his teeth. โFine, whatever you think. I wonโt be able to get out anyway. Put the blame on me. I have nothing more to say.โ
Debraโs voice was laced with contempt. โYouโve always acted so self-righteous, playing the victim of false accusations. But we know the truth, Ralph.โ
Without Marionโs evidence, Debra would never have believed that the once-friendly brothers could end up in such a deadly conflict.
She continued, โBack then, you hired a man named Jaycob to do a job for you, promising to help him save his son once the job was done.โ
Ralphโs eyes widened in shock, his carefully constructed lies crumbling around him. He swallowed nervously, trying to maintain his composure.
โI donโt know what youโre talking about. Jaycob? His son? Never heard of them.โ
โMarion, heโs questioning your abilities.โ Debra glanced at Marion, who came prepared with evidence. On his phone were testimonies from Jaycobโs now-grown son.
Ralph argued, โThatโs just his side of the story. I didnโt kill my brother. I admit I was jealous of him, but I would never do that kind of thing. He was so good to me back then.โ
Debra looked up and asked, โWhat if he found out you were gambling?โ
Ralph lost his tongue.
Debra continued, โMy father was very good to you, but according to the rules, anyone who gets involved in gambling must be expelled from the family.โ
