Chapter 511
Marionโs brows knitted together as he spoke softly. โIโll tell you everything you want to know. No more secrets.โ He cradled her face in his hands and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. โThereโs nothing and no one more important to me than you. But thereโs something I need to do.โ
โAndrew told me you were investigating your parentsโ deaths.โ
โNot just that.โ
โWhat else?โ
โYour parents, too.โ
Debra squeezed her hands and asked nervously, โWho killed my parents?โ
Marion looked into her eyes, then glanced away. โWhat did Andrew tell you?โ
โHe said he didnโt know. But I didnโt believe it. The Potter family has the best intelligence network in Seamar City. Thereโs no way he doesnโt know who the killer is.โ
โHe just wanted me to be the one to tell you.โ
โHow thoughtful! It seems he genuinely wants to help us reconcile.โ
โIt seems I owe him a proper thanks.โ
The pot in the kitchen began to boil over. Marion patted Debraโs head gently. โWait in the living room. Iโll tell you everything once Iโve finished cooking.โ
โIโve already waited so long. A few more minutes wonโt matter.โ
โOkay.โ
Marion returned to the kitchen and skillfully prepared spaghetti. Debra, propping her chin on her hand, said, โI want an egg.โ
โSure.โ
โAnd check if thereโs steak in the fridge.โ
โOkay.โ
Debra chuckled, her eyes twinkling with mischief. โWhoever marries you must be blessed.โ
โAre you praising me or yourself?โ
โMe.โ
Marion turned off the heat and placed a steaming bowl of spaghetti in front of Debra. โThe steak was frozen. Iโve sent someone to get fresh ones. Theyโll be here soon.โ
โAlright, you can spill it now.โ
โWait until youโve finished eating.โ
โWhy?โ
Debra took a bite of spaghetti, and Marion replied seriously, โIโm afraid you wonโt be able to eat once you know the truth.โ
Debra set down her fork. โDo I know the killer?โ
Marion fell silent, making her feel nervous.
โWho is it?โ
โRalph Frazier.โ
Debraโs heart felt like it had been stabbed. She had suspected many people, but never Ralph.
Chapter 11
โWhy? When did you find out?โ
โToday.โ
Debraโs mind reeled with the revelation. โSo, Andrew found out today, too?โ
Marion nodded. โYes. Andrew couldnโt have known much earlier. And although Ralph is the one who pulled the trigger, thereโs someone else behind him. We canโt figure out who that person is. With the enemy in the dark and us in the light, I can only make preparations based on guesswork.โ
Debraโs voice was filled with pain and confusion. โWhy did Ralph do that? Because of his gambling debts?โ
