Chapter 392
A derisive laugh echoed through the room as Ashley stepped forward. โDo you think weโre idiots, Debra? Youโre talking nonsense. Your company is bankrupt. What connection do you have with the Potter family? Can you really invest billions in this program?โ
Eve chimed in, her voice dripping with mockery. โThatโs right. My dad is a board member at Potter Group and knows their operations well. This project was initiated by McKinney Group and Potter Entertainment. The investment is in the billions. Even if your company were still solvent, could you come up with that much?โ
Debra didnโt bother to explain. She had approved the investment over a month ago as president of McKinney Group, when the Frazier Group was still intact. Michael had suggested she sign the contract with Potter Entertainment.
โIf you donโt believe me, I canโt help that. Just tell me what you want.โ
โWe want you out of the practice room. Break the contract.โ
โSorry, no can do.โ
Eve bristled, ready to lash out, but Freya intervened, placing a restraining hand on her arm. โYou can stay if you want, but donโt let this happen again. Weโre all equal here, and your privileged attitude is unacceptable.โ
Debra met her gaze steadily. โI want to follow the rules, but I donโt have the authority.โ
Freya frowned. โWhat do you mean?โ
Andrew was the one calling the shots, and Debra had no idea what he would do next.
Eve sneered, โI see. Youโre just here to stir up trouble. Stay if you want. Youโll regret it sooner or later. Letโs go.โ
With that, the crowd dispersed, leaving Debra in chagrin. โAndrew, what exactly do you want to do? Is this some kind of twisted amusement?โ she thought bitterly.
On the first day of training, trainees were expected to be light and have a flexible waist. Everyone had received a month of professional training and danced with grace and precision. The dance teacher demonstrated a routine, and the trainees followed seamlessly. Only Debra watched.
The teacher glanced at Debra and said, โDebra, youโre starting today, so you might not be familiar with this. Iโll do the whole routine for you to learn.โ
Debra responded, her voice carrying an air of authority rather than humility. โPlease show me a complete performance.โ
Eve, standing nearby, scoffed. โGet off your high horse, Debra. Show some respect to our teacher.โ
The other trainees whispered among themselves with disdain. โI bet sheโs never danced before. Weโll see her make a fool of herself soon.โ โAlways putting on airs, not knowing who sheโs impressing. She only has her looks to rely on.โ
Debra ignored their taunts, her focus unwavering. The teacher began the routine, demonstrating a pop dance that seemed simple but required excellent coordination. Without proper execution, the dance would appear awkward and unpolished.
Eve sneered, โIโve studied modern dance for three years, and it took me several days to learn this routine. Debra, if you canโt do it, leave now to avoid embarrassment.โ
