Chapter 282

โ€œKeep this under wraps,โ€ Juan instructed sternly. โ€œNo leaks allowed.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m afraid it wonโ€™t stay hidden for long,โ€ Joe said.

Melody valued her descendants above all else. Now that a woman was pregnant with Juanโ€™s child, she certainly wasnโ€™t about to let go of the baby. But Juan wasnโ€™t in the mood to dwell on this complication.

โ€œGo get the car. Iโ€™m going to the Fraziersโ€™.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€

Meanwhile, news of Debraโ€™s survival was abuzz. At the Frazier family home, Rosalie was fuming. She hurled the newspaper across the room, the pages fluttering before landing under a pair of red high heels.

โ€œWhat is Debra up to? Why stage a fake death? And she didnโ€™t even bother to let us know she was alive. Is this some kind of sick joke?โ€ she ranted.

A soft, almost amused voice responded, โ€œAunt Rosalie, who are you talking about?โ€

Rosalie jumped, whirling around to see Debra standing there.

โ€œDebraโ€ฆโ€ she gasped.

Debra, dressed in a wine-red gown with a white mink coat draped over her, looked remarkably refined. She raised an eyebrow, casually walking toward a sofa and sitting down. โ€œWhy do you look like youโ€™ve seen a ghost? Arenโ€™t you happy to see me back home?โ€

Rosalie forced a smile, her eyes darting to the four bodyguards accompanying Debra.

โ€œHow could that be? Iโ€™m thrilled youโ€™re back safely.โ€ She paused and asked tentatively, โ€œAre you back alone?โ€

โ€œYes. Who else would you expect to see?โ€

โ€œWhat about Mr. Nichols?โ€

Debraโ€™s smile didnโ€™t falter. She knew Rosalie must have read the news about her divorce announcement.

โ€œIโ€™ve given the divorce papers to Juan,โ€ she said calmly. โ€œI wonโ€™t be going back to the Nichols family.โ€

Rosalieโ€™s smile vanished instantly. โ€œWhat? You really want a divorce?โ€

โ€œOf course. Juan had an affair and even got the mistress pregnant. Iโ€™ll be better off without a man like that. Arenโ€™t you happy for me, Aunt Rosalie?โ€

Rosalie was frustrated. โ€œAre you out of your mind? How does divorcing Juan benefit the Frazier family at this critical time?โ€

Her outburst attracted the attention of Ralph, who rushed downstairs. When he saw Debra, his face lit up with genuine happiness. โ€œDebra, I knew youโ€™d be fine. Let me check. Were you injured?โ€

Debraโ€™s smile softened, becoming more genuine as she looked at Ralph.

โ€œUncle Ralph, Iโ€™m fine,โ€ she replied.

Ralph nodded, tears glistening in his eyes. After confirming that Debra was unharmed, he said, โ€œJuan is such a jerk. I entrusted you to him, and look what heโ€™s done. He had an affair, got the mistress pregnant, and took her to his house when you were missing.โ€

Debra reassured him, โ€œUncle Ralph, donโ€™t be angry. Look, Iโ€™m not upset.โ€

Rosalie weakly interjected, โ€œWell, itโ€™s not uncommon for men to be a bit unfaithful. Juan just slept with another woman. Youโ€™re still Mrs. Nichols, and he still treats you well. Thereโ€™s no need to escalate things to a divorce.โ€
