Chapter 89

Tamika slapped the table. “No, I just suddenly remembered, Sir Argent still owes us money.”

Alaricka said, “What money?”

Tamika frowned, looking troubled. “After your dad passed away, the Argent family said they'd make it up to you, said they set aside some money for you. But the Argent family still hadn’t given it to you. They said they were saving it for you, adding a bit every year, and would give it to you when you went to college.”

“But when I look at it now, why do I feel like the Argent family won’t give it?”

Alaricka frowned. “The funding… how much is there in total?”

Tamika thought for a moment. “By now, it should be five million.”

The egg in Alaricka’s hand dropped.

Five million?

Haven’t given it yet?

Could she say on the phone, "I regret it?"

The Argent family’s reputation couldn’t compare to this five million.

In the previous life, she hadn’t even seen a shadow of that money.

It was enough to prove that the Argent family really didn’t plan to… give it.

In a flash, Alaricka picked up the phone and looked at it like she was ready to die.

If she called now, would Wallace still pick up?

She had a bunch of messy thoughts in her head.

In the end, just when she was about to shamelessly call Wallace, Kieran suddenly called her.

Tamika pinched the flesh on her arm. “Pick up, get the money.”

Alaricka’s hand jerked, and she picked up the phone.

After picking up, Alaricka pretended to be calm and said, “Mr. Argent, what’s up?”

Kieran’s voice was as deep and rich as always. Maybe it was because he was announcing his engagement today, so there was a bit of happiness in his usually calm tone, like a nice, mellow cello sound.

“Grandpa said, you didn’t want to come?”

Alaricka slowly sat up straight! “What?”

Kieran said in a low voice, “We had to go.”

Even if Alaricka wanted to go, Kieran’s harsh tone made her feel bad.

“Where are you? I’ll pick you up.”

Alaricka said, “Rental room.”

Before Kieran hung up, he said, “I’ll be there in half an hour. Don’t go anywhere.”

After hanging up, Tamika rubbed her shoulders.

“Yeah, remember, you have to get the money back. That was the last thing your dad left you. You have to get it back.”

Alaricka thought for a moment and took out the crystal locket hidden deep in the cabinet.

This really was her dad’s keepsake, and with this thing, the Argent family wouldn’t refuse to acknowledge it, right?

Tamika followed behind her and asked, “Wasn’t this thing broken? When did it get fixed?”

Hearing that, Alaricka blinked slowly, a bit confused. “Didn’t you take it to get it fixed?”

Tamika said, “Weren’t you the one who took it to get it fixed? I didn’t. I didn’t even know where to get it fixed.”

Alaricka frowned. “Then who fixed it?”

Tamika shrugged her shoulders. “If you can’t remember, just forget it. Just fix yourself up. Hurry up, pack your stuff, and change clothes to go to the Argent’s villa.”

Alaricka nodded vaguely.

Kieran was on time, and she saw him downstairs from the rental place half an hour later.

Alaricka dressed simply, in a regular T-shirt and jeans, without any sense that she was going to a party.

Kieran saw the outfit and frowned. “Where’s the dress I bought you before?”

Alaricka answered casually, “Left it at the Argent’s villa, I didn’t bring it.”

“Your family already got it ready for you; make sure to change into it when the time comes.”

Alaricka nodded carelessly.

Kieran probably wasn’t satisfied with that answer.

Because she said the "Argent’s villa," not "home."

And Kieran had already told her over and over, the Argent’s villa was her home, and she shouldn’t act like a stranger.

All the way, neither of them had anything to say, and the car quietly drove to the Argent’s villa.

A group of people had already gathered there, chatting lively.

When Alaricka got out of the car in a plain T-shirt and jeans, there was a few seconds of silence in the crowd.

Almost everyone wore proper suits and dresses and made themselves look good.

Even the servants in the villa wore better-looking uniforms.

Alaricka looked out of place.

“How did she come?”

“Why did Alaricka dress like this?”

Not far away, Roschelle walked over gracefully, holding up her smooth, silky skirt and smiling gently. “Kieran, Alaricka, you’re here. Sir Argent has been waiting a long time.”
