Chapter 209
She was clearly the victim, but they still investigated her as the bad guy.
By now, the real culprit had hidden away and even cleared her name in a considerate way.
That was really funny.
Roschelle seemed to be scared by her expression, lost her smile for a second, leaned her upper body toward Kieran, and looked at her with a rather pitiful look.
Alarieka just looked at her quietly like that, with no emotion at all in his eyes.
It wasn’t until she saw Kieran’s hand rest on Roschelle’s slender shoulder and give it a firm squeeze, like he was giving Roschelle strength, her eyes shifted, and she slowly looked up, meeting Kieran’s gaze.
Under the pale hospital lights, Kieran’s face looked even sharper and smoother. His brow bone was perfect and striking, and his long, dark eyes were deep and unreadable, hiding emotions Alarieka couldn’t figure out.
Kieran put his arm protectively around Roschelle’s shoulders and said in a low voice, “Let’s go back.”
This meant him and Roschelle and us.
Patrick stood in front of Roschelle, stretched out his arm to block her, and looked at her with a wary and suspicious look.
“Why did you look at Rose like that? The cops already said it wasn’t true. How could you even doubt her?”
Alarieka suddenly stood up.
The tension between them was intense, and the two cops immediately stood up, ready to break things up.
“Don’t do it!”
But no matter how they looked at it, the police thought the first one to make a move could only be Alarieka, because she was the only one in a bad mood. Her face and eyes looked calm, but there was always a hint of ruthlessness.
So, the two cops actually turned their bodies sideways to face Alarieka, and both of their arms were ready to block Alarieka at any moment.
In the same way, Patrick’s brows furrowed even deeper, and the look in his eyes got even sharper, checking out every bit of Alarieka’s expression and moves.
Kieran didn’t say anything, just pulled Roschelle’s wheelchair and took a step back.
Between the actions, the yellow protective charm Roschelle had put in her pocket fell to the ground.
It was Patrick who picked up the amulet and handed it to Roschelle.
The color was too obvious, and Alarieka instinctively looked over.
Alarieka was a bit out of it.
It seemed like everyone was helping Roschelle.
Was this world really a world with Roschelle as the main character?
Roschelle was like the favorite of everyone in this world, everyone spoiled her and took her side. In front of Roschelle, she really was just like a clown.
It was like being the evil supporting girl who ended up with nothing in the end.
Alarieka felt a chill in her chest.
She slowly sat on the hospital bed, her eyes blank, her voice very low: “I need to rest.”
Seeing that she had calmed down, the two cops and Patrick finally relaxed.
The police said, “Get some rest. If you find anything else, you can come and tell us.”
Patrick let his guard down, but the way he looked at her still wasn’t exactly friendly.
When Kieran pushed Roschelle out, Patrick stayed on Alarieka’s side, keeping Roschelle well covered, still watching out for her, in case she tried to bully Roschelle.
It wasn’t until a few people left the hospital room that Alarieka relaxed, flopped onto the bed, and shut her eyes tightly.
Actually, Alarieka knew that even if the security camera really caught Roschelle pulling her into the water, Roschelle probably wouldn’t get in any trouble.
In the past, Roschelle did way too many bad things, and not every single one could be kept secret by her. There were always a few things that gave her away.
Kieran, along with a few others, could tell what Roschelle did, but they all kept quiet about it and even tried to understand Roschelle.
When she was drugged and almost forced by a homeless man, Patrick said, “If you hadn’t bullied Rose like that before, how could she have done this? You kind of brought this on yourself. At most, Rose was just protecting herself.”
Kieran’s parents said, “Even a kind girl like Rose was pushed this far by you. That shows how out of line you were. Don’t expect Rose to apologize to you. Instead, we want you to apologize to Rose.”
Kieran would say, “Stay away from Rose, don’t make her worry about you anymore.”
Roschelle did so many outrageous things, but in Kieran’s eyes, it was actually worrying.
Alarieka had already realized that if she didn’t grow up, then no matter how much evidence she had of Roschelle doing something wrong, it wouldn’t help.
Everyone around Roschelle would protect her.
