Chapter 151: The Harrison Legacy
Zynn, seated beside Melody, inquired about her recent work. Catching sight of the unfolding scene nearby, she propped her chin and smiled. As PR director of Quinn Group, Zynn prided herself on her appearance. Her black evening gown flowed elegantly, and her smile at Mario already drew attention from several men. But Zynn remained indifferent to such attention. She could handle business, drink with the best of them, and converse on any topic. Men came and went at her whim, yet she had never truly loved anyone. Her beauty was enough.
"Mr. Mario certainly holds his liquor well," Zynn remarked lightly. "The banquet hasn't even begun—try not to get too drunk too early."
Mario glanced at her. "I'll be fine."
"Drinking while in a bad mood makes it easier to get drunk," she cautioned. "Be careful. The Harrison family sent Fabien and Wen Meiyun tonight. I guess that means none of the younger generation is worth anything."
Chase, concerned about Mario's reaction, quietly asked, "Are you nervous to see him?"
Nervous? Mario searched himself and found no trace of nervousness. In fact, he felt excited.
"No," Mario replied, turning his head. "I've been waiting to see him for a long time—just didn't expect it to be at something like this."
Seeing Fabien meant the beginning of his counterattack. Of course, Mario was excited. But the reality of the moment struck him hard—Fabien stood before him, unharmed, while Wen Meiyun maintained her air of high-society sophistication.
Why? Why, if the Harrison family hadn't refused to let his mother through the front door, if they hadn't forced her to live as an outcast, would she have died in childbirth simply because she couldn't reach anyone in time? Why do those who destroyed her still stand here as if nothing happened?
"More than half of Larry's properties have been seized," Wendy said, attempting to change the subject. "You already bought them up?"
Mario nodded. "Just small holdings. But going through them helped me spot something—the Harrison family's core assets are still under Fabien's control. And look at Drake Bay. After all these years, it's still not finished."
Drake Bay, a development Bruno started before his death, was nestled in the most secluded part of Gennemont's luxury residential zone. Massive in scale and built with only the highest-end materials, once completed, it would immediately become the crown jewel of Gennemont's elite housing.
Back when the land was available, Mandy had her eye on it too, but she couldn't beat Bruno to it. Given the old man's seniority in her family, she conceded rather than creating a scene. Now that Bruno was gone and the project indefinitely stalled, Mandy would do whatever it took to acquire it.
"Harrison Group's cash flow is tight," Sammy stated. "They've been patching things together to stay afloat. Larry and Henry's divisions aren't profitable at all. And with all of Larry's assets forcibly shut down, I think they'll have no choice but to auction off Drake Bay."
Mario shook his head firmly. "No way."
"The only thing keeping Harrison Group stable in real estate is Drake Bay," Sammy explained. "Even if it never gets finished, as long as they hold onto that land, their reputation remains intact. The second it gets sold off, the company collapses overnight. Fabien's not that stupid."
"What a waste of prime real estate," Wendy sighed. She had already tried to determine whether Harrison Group was willing to sell Drake Bay; as Mario said, they refused outright. Clearly, Mario still understood the Harrison family well. Bruno's legacy ran deep—deep enough that they could squander it without fear.
"Forget about Drake Bay," Mario said. "But Cliff Haven—that one's viable. It's up in the Gennemont hills. The back slope's already zoned for development. It's a guaranteed win."
Wendy brightened and turned to Mario. "You'd let that one go?"
"What for?" Mario shrugged. "Leaving it in Fabien's hands is a waste. Better to let you make something out of it. Once I reclaim my place in the Harrison family, Drake Bay will be back on track."
With that, Wendy pulled Sammy and Zynn aside to discuss Cliff Haven, preparing to evaluate its market value. Chase and Mario finally had a moment alone.
"I'm impressed you even showed up to something like this," Mario said. "I know how much you hate public appearances."
Chase shook his head. "I'll go wherever Wendy goes. Besides, Wellinges Pharma is about to go public. I really should be putting myself out there more. Starting next month, Melody's booking me at least one business event per month. I'll just be the friendly mascot who smiles and shows up."
