Chapter 213

“How about I take you for a spa to cool off?” asked Chris.

Roy was rendered speechless.

When he heard that his younger sister had gone with Jessica to a spa, Roy felt even more conflicted.

To Roy, the sky was about to collapse, yet those two women didn’t take it seriously at all–they even had the leisure to go get massages when the situation was already urgent.

As long as Michael returned to the country using Elfa’s identity, he would inevitably launch an offensive against their alliance, which included the Wilder Group, the Summit Infirmary, FN, and Hurricane Media.

Any enterprise connected to Jessica and Chris would be impacted.

Ashley walked in from outside. “It’s not that bad. I don’t know Michael, but from what I know about Elfa, he was someone who understood restraint. He wouldn’t act rashly. He would always give us time to react—and he’d need a proper pretext.”

“Sorry, the door wasn’t closed,” Ashley apologized.

The main reason was that Roy’s voice had been too loud–he had heard him shouting as soon as he stepped out of the elevator.

Ashley knew Chris’s temperament; he would definitely be unable to calm Roy down.

So he came over, intending to help rescue the “mascot.”

Roy glanced at Ashley.

He knew Ashley worked for Jessica, was a medical school graduate, and now both he and Francesca were helping Chris at the Summit Infirmary.

“So we just sit here waiting to get hit?” Roy couldn’t hold back his impatience.

Chris gestured for Ashley to sit first, then turned to Roy and said, “Don’t be so anxious. Jessica got the news early this morning. If they still have the time to go for massages, then things haven’t reached an irreversible point. Besides, do you really think Michael can outplay us alone?”

Roy looked at Chris strangely. After a long pause, he finally said, “What kind of magic potion has Jessica been feeding you lately? Wasn’t it Michael who took you down before? You even divorced Jessica because of him! Did you forget?”

Chris said, “Thanks for the reminder. I didn’t forget. The reason Jessica and I got divorced wasn’t essentially because of Michael. The key issue lay with Jessica. It was never Michael who truly defeated me—it was that relationship I believed in.”

Ashley added, “Ms. Wilder and Chris have a very good relationship.”

After a pause, Roy calmed down a little.

He ran his hand through his hair, brushing it back from his forehead, revealing a smooth brow, and took a deep breath.

“Fine. If none of you are worried, what do I have to worry about?”

News about Elfa swept across the country.

The CEO of Aitairy, who had always remained hidden in the shadows, suddenly revealed himself–and he turned out to be Cherian.

It shocked everyone.

Everyone involved in the matter felt a strong sense of surprise.

That included Michael’s parents.

It seemed that Michael had kept all his overseas affairs secret from his family.

He felt no gratitude toward his parents–only resentment.

Perhaps the person most qualified to speak on this was Helen.

While Michael was out of the country, Jessica arranged to meet with Helen.

There were some questions she could finally ask.

Helen was wary of everything.

She had trusted Michael and ended up with a ruined family.

But Jessica was a woman–and more importantly, a woman who had no emotional attachment to Michael.

Someone that rational might be capable of accomplishing something.

“You were married to Michael for so long, and you didn’t know he was the CEO of Aitairy? Didn’t the Jills family also have dealings within Aitairy?”

Roy’s habitual interrogation carried an air of superiority that made Helen feel pressured.

Nina quickly pulled him back.
