After the others left, Harlan remained seated and glanced at Chris, asking with some doubt, “A few days ago I heard that Megan wanted to resign. Did she do something wrong?”
Megan counted as a veteran in the pharmacy. Training someone new would take time.
“No, Megan brought it up herself. I tried to persuade her to stay for a long time.” Chris had never told anyone what Megan had done. That was their secret.
Since Roy had decided to let Megan go, they couldn’t spread the matter around.
“Alright then. When we recruit for the pharmacy again, we need someone experienced. I think they’re considering selecting someone from the nurses. That way, if the nurses need help, that person could also help them out.”
“Francesca will arrange everything,”
Once everyone had left, Chris motioned for Francesca to come over. He took the documents, glanced at them, and saw that every board member had signed. The matter was settled, and the focus now was to push Frontier Constructions to begin construction.
Chris had already told Jessica about the board’s decision.
“The chairman seems to be worried about something,” said Francesca.
Chris replied, “Changing personnel rashly isn’t good for us. Moreover, with Megan gone, we don’t know who will take over her… tasks. How about Hector – has there been any movement recently?”
“It seems he signed an order using thoracic surgery’s medications. After signing the order, Dr. Wood even contacted the chest pain center to ask about dosage details.”
But no one had died recently, and there had been no cases of fatal overdoses.
It seemed Hector hadn’t managed his drug quantities properly, and with Megan’s resignation, the other party no longer had anyone to help him obtain medication.
“Roy will arrange for Megan to take her child and meet up with her husband. He will also ensure the family’s safety. You should…” Chris paused.
Francesca waited quietly for him to finish.
After a brief silence, Chris said, “Give Megan an extra quarter’s bonus. We might need her again in the future, so let’s keep that connection.”
“Understood.”
Chapter 204 +15 BONUS
Issuing an additional bonus only required Chris’s signature before sending it to the finance department.
Francesca quickly left.
Chris called Roy.
“Has Megan already left?”
“Yes, Jack saw her onto the train. Based on the schedule, she should arrive in about two hours. What’s worrying you?”
“Nothing.”
On Roy’s end, there was a lot of background noise, as if many people were around. He moved to a quieter place, lit a cigarette, and said, “Michael went abroad.”
Two hours after talking with Jessica, Michael had bought a ticket and left the country.
Jennifer had seen his location at the airport and immediately reported it to Jessica.
“It’s good that he went abroad. At least he won’t bother us here,” said Chris.
Roy’s tone grew serious. “Jessica had a bad feeling. It seems Michael made some kind of threat. We’re worried that once abroad, he might restart Aitairy.”
Up to now, Chris still hadn’t fully understood what Aitairy actually was – something capable of entangling so many people.
After Chris asked, Roy said, “You can ask Jessica. She knows at least as much as I do – probably more. She’s even helped me a lot. If Michael goes abroad to restart Aitairy, then he’ll become a key subject of police surveillance. The situation might change after that.”
Chris picked Jessica up after work. In the car, he asked her about Aitairy’s specifics.
“How should I put it? Aitairy was technically a company – on the surface, it was a medical and cosmetic equipment firm. In reality, it did all kinds of business, including… human trafficking.”
