Chapter 91

“I have to go to work later, so I can’t stay with you today,” Brynn said while having breakfast. She placed the warm matkin in front of The Mahnoon’s tepid entrance. “If you’re leaving, please remember to take them with you.”

Mrs. Johnson nodded. “Where do you work, Ms. Everett?”

“At a traditional medicine academy, for now,” Brynn replied, glancing at the fine Wangle.

With that, Brynn quickly shoved the rest of her bread into her mouth and left.

Watching her leave, Mrs. Johnson couldn’t help but murmur to herself, “What a lonely…”. “Too bad Dominic isn’t this lucky,” she added. “He used to be so busy that he hardly ever came home, but now that he’s married…”

The taxi pulled up outside the Panacea Medical Academy. Brynn got out and looked up at the academy’s sign, which was written in bold, elegant calligraphy: Panacea Medical Academy. But the area was eerily quiet. Aside from the security guard in the small booth, who appeared to be napping, there was no one else around. On the other hand, Asclepius Medical College across the street was bustling with students, and even vendors were set up nearby.

Brynn sighed. She finally understood the predicament Mr. Buckman had mentioned. The situation was even worse than she had imagined.

“Is Panacea Medical School still open?” she overheard a student from Asclepius Medical College say, pointing at the building. “I heard there are hardly any students left.”

“Not for long,” another student chimed in. “Look, there’s a pretty girl standing out front. She probably got tricked into signing up as a new student.”

“She’ll probably run away in a few days,” the first student added. These students were talking loudly as they walked into the gates of Asclepius Medical College.

Brynn, mistakenly thought to be a new student, sighed. Shaking her head slightly, she didn’t pay much attention and walked toward the security booth.

“Excuse me, could you open the door?” She knocked on the window, waking up the security guard, who rubbed his eyes.

“New student, huh? The teaching building is the one right in front,” the guard pointed in a direction.

Brynn was about to explain that she was a teacher, not a student, but decided it wasn’t necessary. She nodded, thanked him, and walked in.

The teaching building of the Traditional Medicine Academy was eerily quiet as well. However, as she reached the hallway, she heard a loud commotion coming from one of the classrooms.

“…You little brat, do you know who I am? Do you know who my dad is? Dare to mess with me? You’re asking for trouble!”

Brynn raised an eyebrow. ‘No wonder people looked down on them.’ The student sounded like a thug. Clearly, not a good student…

Despite her frustration, Brynn quickened her pace toward the classroom. As she reached the door, she hadn’t even stepped inside when she saw complete chaos. Yes, they were fighting!

“Fuck you!”

“You little brat, dare to hit me? You’re dead!”

“Try kicking me again, and I’ll beat you to death!”

A few of them were swearing and going at it, not even noticing anyone at the door. Brynn hadn’t planned on getting involved, but upon closer inspection, she realized… the person being surrounded looked vaguely familiar. Taking a closer look, wasn’t that her “brother,” Josh? Josh hadn’t noticed the person at the door. Although these troublemakers outnumbered him, he wasn’t intimidated at all. He grabbed a chair and swung it toward the leader’s head…

“Stop it!” As the chair was about to crash into the leader’s head, Brynn shouted, halting everyone in the classroom. ‘Who is this little beauty? A new student?’ Everyone was stunned by her. Josh froze when he saw Brynn. ‘How did she end up here?’ ‘I’d been struggling to find her earlier. How did she just appear on her own?’

Brynn looked at them with a stern face and a cold tone, “This is an academy, not a place for you to fight and cause trouble!”

“Who are you?” The leader, a young man with bleached blond hair, glared at her impatiently. “New here, huh? Do you even know who I am, trying to interfere with this?”

Brynn was about to respond when the blond young man cut her off. “I’ll tell you, if it weren’t for the fact that you’re a woman, I’d beat you up too! Stay out of our business! Boys, beat him up!” As he said this, the blond man raised the chair to smash it down on Josh.

Seeing this, Brynn was furious. She rushed forward and threw her purse at the blond’s head!

Thud!

“Don’t you understand the meaning of ‘stop’?” Brynn yelled as she threw another hit. “Your parents send you here to study, not to fight!”

The blond man was dazed from the blow, his head ringing, and his chair dropped. He stood there, holding his head, looking at Brynn in confusion. “You dare hit me…”

“Like to fight, huh?” Brynn looked at him coldly and then scanned the other students, who were now uncertain. She picked up the chair from the floor, quickly disassembling it. She pulled out one of the metal pipes from the chair. “If you want to fight, let’s do this properly. Do you dare?”

With that, Brynn pointed the steel pipe toward the blond and then motioned toward Josh. “I’ll teach you a fatal move. Use this and stab it in his neck.”

Josh opened his mouth to retort but fell silent, unsure of how to respond.
