Chapter 12

The days in the hospital were really boring. Zayden used to take me for a walk every day. Today, I bought roasted sweet potatoes at the entrance of the hospital. When I went back, I found that there were a lot of people gathered at the entrance of the ward. Zayden helped me inside. The unexpected guest inside was Isabell. Zayden carefully helped me sit back on the hospital bed. The girl looked at us and suddenly started crying.

“Jaqueline, can you please stop clinging to Alvin just because you were adopted by the Horne family and grew up together? We were happy together, can you please not break us apart? I truly love him, and unlike you, there is more than one man in your life. From childhood to adulthood, I have only liked him. He is the only one for me, I beg you, Jaqueline.”

Her reddened eyes and disheveled hair made her look fragile and aggrieved, which was quite endearing. Zayden stood up and was about to speak.

I grabbed him. “I have known Alvin for sixteen years, dated for ten years, and we were supposed to get married.”

“You don’t have to pretend to be ignorant, you have seen me, haven’t you?”

“Those videos and photos, were they sent to show me, right?”

“Now that you have succeeded, we have broken up. Your affairs from now on have nothing to do with me.”

“Don’t appear in front of me again, it disgusts me.”

She seemed not to have expected me to be so calm. She stared at me blankly for a moment, and then her expression suddenly changed, glaring at me fiercely.

“You had better walk the talk.”

She left after saying those words. The wound throbbed slightly, so I changed my sitting position.

Some couldn’t catch their breath.

“Don’t overthink it, it’s all over.” Zayden looked at me worriedly.

I forced a smile at him. I also thought everything had ended.

Until… I received a bouquet of flowers. I thought it was a gift from a friend, and I wanted to put the flowers in a vase.

Open.

The liquid that flowed out stained my eyes red.

It was blood.

Nourishing the flowers… was blood.

I was frozen in that moment. The smell of blood filled my nostrils, and flowers fell to the ground. Blood dripped down my fingers, drop by drop, and I could almost hear its sound.

What Zayden saw when he entered was such a scene. He rushed over in an instant.

“Jaqueline, where were you injured?”

“Doctor! Doctor! Nurse!” He reached out his hand, afraid to touch me.

“It was not my blood.” I slowly lifted my head, my voice hoarse.

He looked at me deeply and gently hugged me.

“Don’t be afraid.” Zayden called the police.

The hospital’s surveillance captured the delivery guy running. I only found out the next day.
