Chapter 61

Just as the family was enjoying themselves, Brenda, the maid, rushed in anxiously. "Mr. and Mrs. Carter, Ms. Carter, something's wrong. Mr. Edwards from next door is here, and he wants to see Ms. Carter."

Everyone froze, turning to their aunt for guidance. She said, "He looks very grim. Could he be here to cause trouble?"

Rebecca spoke first. "Just ignore him."

Debra sighed in relief. "Yes, close the door!"

Debra instructed Brenda, "If Theodore comes again, just close the door and ignore him."

Brenda, still a little stunned, nodded. "Of course, I'll shut him out immediately."

Brenda went to the door.

Paul voiced his concern, "I think we should hire bodyguards. Becky and the babies are at home. What if that man forces his way in and tries to take them?"

Patrick agreed.

Debra chimed in, "I'll talk to Bryce. He has many connections, and he can find us good people."

They easily arranged to hire bodyguards.

Outside, Theodore waited impatiently. Brenda opened the door, gave him a cold glare, and shut the door.

What did that mean? Was he unwelcome? Did Rebecca still refuse to see him?

Theodore chuckled in frustration. The situation was incomprehensible. Was Rebecca out of her mind? They weren't even divorced, and she was openly living in another man's house.

How disgusting and shameless!

Seething with anger, Theodore pulled out his phone and furiously dialed Rebecca's number.

Chapter 61

Inside Carter Villa, Rebecca's phone buzzed. "Theodore" flashed on the screen. Everyone exchanged tense glances.

Rebecca looked at the screen with cold resolve and declined the call. She knew there was no point in talking to Theodore. Answering would only upset her.

Outside, Theodore stared at his phone in disbelief. His call had been rejected? Rebecca had hung up on him?

In a rage, Theodore kicked the flowerpot on the Carter family's doorstep. It crashed down the stairs, shattering into pieces. The loud noise echoed through the quiet evening.

Inside, Brenda jumped at the commotion. Fear washed over her.

Having vented his anger, Theodore glared at Carter Villa one last time before storming back home, seething with fury.

Brenda waited until the noise subsided. Cautiously, she went to the front door to assess the damage. The doorstep was a mess of broken pots and scattered flowers.

Brenda's heart ached. These flowers were her favorites, specially brought from Hivalis.

Brenda rushed back inside, her voice trembling. "Mrs. Carter, it's terrible! Your favorite flowers are knocked over, the pots are broken, and many leaves and petals are damaged!"

The family was distressed. Unable to contain their anger, they all hurried outside. The sight of their ruined flowers filled them with fury.

Rebecca's face darkened. She knew Theodore had a volatile temper, but she never imagined he would vandalize their property.

"It's okay," she said, her voice laced with cold determination. "Count how many were broken. We'll send a compensation list to the Edwards Group. We'll demand reimbursement for the damaged flowerpots and for the emotional distress."

Debra demanded coldly, "We will sue him!"

Paul smiled. "No worries, let's leave this to Adrian. When it comes to legal battles, our family has nothing to fear." He turned to Debra. "Oh, right, Debra, about Becky and Theodore's divorce, why don't we have Adrian help Becky file a lawsuit? Maybe a court ruling will speed up the divorce."

Debra considered this.

Patrick shook his head, a mix of amusement and exasperation. "We've already discussed this with Adrian. To get a divorce through litigation, the husband needs to have committed a major fault."

Paul protested, "How is there no major fault? Theodore cheated and even has an illegitimate child! Gathering evidence shouldn't be hard, right?" He thought of Janet's child. "Proving that child is Theodore's shouldn't be difficult. I can arrange a paternity test easily!"

Debra sighed. "It's not that simple. Adultery doesn't constitute a major fault. There needs to be evidence of domestic violence, bigamy, or other serious misconduct. Theodore and Janet may have a child, but they never lived together, so it doesn't qualify as bigamy."

Even with their influence, they had to follow the law. In Zentiscape, no one was above the law. Even if Theodore cheated, as long as he refused to agree to a divorce, it would be difficult to get a divorce through the court.

Rebecca interjected, "Let's not worry about him. The divorce will happen eventually." She didn't want her family upset because of Theodore.

Debra agreed. "Yes, let's not waste our time and energy on him."

Rebecca started to clean up the mess.

Debra stopped her. "Becky, wait. Let me call Adrian and find out how to gather evidence. We need to document this in case Theodore denies responsibility and refuses to compensate." Rebecca nodded.

Debra called Adrian, who guided her on how to collect evidence. They instructed Brenda to clean up.

Meanwhile, Charlie, after attending the banquet, rushed back to his film set. He had taken a day off and needed to return. Even while away, he didn't forget about Rebecca. He secured a promising script and wanted her to join the project.

Charlie's productions were high-profile, making it difficult for newcomers to enter. If Rebecca could join, even for a small role, it would be a great opportunity.

Lynn shared the news with Rebecca, who already knew about it.
