Chapter 51

That night, Theodore returned home. Seeing the empty villa, he realized Rebecca was gone. His anger boiled over. He immediately called her.

Rebecca's phone rang in the neighboring villa. Seeing it was Theodore, she ignored the call, watching until it disconnected.

Back at Edwards Villa, Theodore frowned, calling again. Annoyed by the persistent ringing, Rebecca hung up immediately. Theodore understood she was deliberately avoiding him. He threw his phone down in frustration.

"This is absurd!" he grumbled. "I don't understand Rebecca. Does she think she can succeed without me? She's overestimating herself!"

Half an hour later, Wyatt arrived. "What happened, Theodore?" he asked worriedly.

Theodore took a deep breath. "How's the investigation?"

After a pause, Wyatt replied, "Regarding Debra and her husband, I've almost finished. I can send you the information now. About the call to Mrs. Melissa Edwards on the day you and Rebecca divorcedโ€ฆ someone did call, but it was anonymous and from abroad, making it difficult to trace."

He hesitated. "Theodore, do you really not like Rebecca at all?"

Theodore felt irritated.

Wyatt shook his head. "Forget it. But before you make any decisions, think it through. There's no turning back. Even if the wounds heal, the scars will remain."

Theodore gave him a dissatisfied look. "What do you mean?"

Wyatt looked at Theodore seriously. "I don't want you to regret it later."

Theodore commanded, "Send me that woman's information now."

Wyatt nodded, quickly sending the files. "And check on Charlie for me," Theodore added.

"Sure," Wyatt agreed.

Theodore sat at his desk, meticulously reviewing the information about the woman always around Rebecca. His expression turned grim. "What kind of rubbish is this? Just a last name and background? She's from Hivalis? That's it?"

Three minutes later, Wyatt returned, holding a documentโ€”his resignation letter.

Theodore's face darkened. "What do you mean by this?"

Wyatt paused. "Theodore, I've worked with you since graduation. You've given me the highest salary, and I'm grateful. But I feel we're not a good fit as superior and subordinate. I've saved money and want to venture out."

Theodore's demeanor softened. "You want to start your own company?"

Wyatt nodded. "Yes."

"What do you plan to do?"

Wyatt was quiet for a moment.

Theodore said firmly, "If you need help, come to me. I'll help whatever I can."

Wyatt smiled. "Sure!" He looked at Theodore. "We've been friends for years. Do you really have no feelings for Rebecca? We've known each other for over a decade. She's the only person I've seen affect your emotions."

Wyatt hesitated, then left. Theodore was alone in the spacious villa.

The next day, Wyatt still came to the office, planning to finish the month. Theodore spent three days thinking. He then called Wyatt.

Wyatt looked at Theodore. Theodore asked angrily, "Do I have to tolerate her cheating on me just because I like her?"

Wyatt was surprised. "This isn't about cheating. Liking someone means knowing them, cherishing them, not dominating or bullying them. It should be joyful, not painful."

Theodore sneered. "How can I be happy when she cheats on me?"

Wyatt paused. "I can't comment, but Rebecca is someone worth trusting."

"I didn't know you and Rebecca had such a good relationship!" Theodore mocked.

Wyatt was speechless. The office fell silent. "If there's nothing else, I'll go. The workday is over," Wyatt said.

"Hold on," Theodore called.

Theodore awkwardly offered Wyatt a cigarette. "Thank you for telling me all this."

Wyatt smiled. "A simple thank you isn't enough. How about drinks next time?"

Theodore nodded. "Sure."

Charlie's entertainment business was officially registered. He immediately hired a top agent to train Rebecca. He knew resources weren't enough; she needed skill.

Rebecca was grateful. She wanted to be better than Janet, to prove herself. Janet had tampered with Rebecca's university application. Rebecca's foster parents said she wasn't cut out for acting. Later, Janet deliberately applied to film school, provoking Rebecca. Her foster parents said Janet was more talented and scolded Rebecca for jealousy. But Rebecca always believed she could do better, given the chance. Now, she wanted to prove herself.
