Chapter 30

Janet and the others returned, and the production crew announced they had to make their own lunch. Her face fell. Karen looked even more anxious; neither she nor Janie could cook.

Rebecca, however, could. Karen instinctively glanced at her. Whenever their housekeeper left or was fired, Rebecca cooked for everyone.

Rebecca felt a burning gaze and turned. Meeting her foster mother's eyes, she had a bad feeling.

"Reb..." Karen began, but Janet quickly interjected, "Mom, let's figure out lunch." She didn't want Rebecca involved; it would be troublesome if fans discovered their relationship.

Karen looked at her daughter, realizing Janet didn't want her to ask Rebecca. Charlie then quietly pulled his sister away, heading to the kitchen. He wouldn't let her face his "disgusting mother-daughter duo."

Their reactions were obvious. Sharp-eyed fans in the livestream noticed.

[Is it just me, or does Chuck seem to dislike Janet and her mother?] [Umm... Are you new here? Chuck has always disliked Janet!] [What's going on? Can someone explain?] [I know! Janet repeatedly dressed like Charlie or wore matching accessories, then used promotion accounts to spread rumors of a romance. A reporter asked Charlie if they were dating; he said no, calling her "too ugly!"] [I love Chuck's attitude. Confront malicious people directly!]

Some viewers became angry and argued with these comments. In Room Five, Janet's fans couldn't win. But in Room Four, most viewers were Janet's fans, harshly insulting Charlie, demanding he leave the industry. A few of Charlie's fans argued back, but it was ineffective.

Meanwhile, the director watched from behind the camera, smiling smugly. "Good," he thought, "let them fight. More buzz, more popularity!"

The fans argued, but the celebrities couldn't openly fight. They had to pretend.

Charlie and Rebecca entered the kitchen first. Janet followed. She hadn't had a chance to cause trouble for Rebecca yet.

Janet thought, I can't let Rebecca stay with Charlie. I need to make her mess up on camera. I want the audience to hate her!

She feigned graciousness. "Chuck, do you know how to cook? My mom and I can't. Can we work together? I'll wash vegetables!" She mentally counted down: three, two, oneโ€ฆ If he refused, he'd be labeled petty and ungentlemanly, damaging his reputation.
