Chapter 19

Janet couldn't believe her eyes. She rubbed them and looked again, realizing the people in Room Five were indeed Rebecca and Charlie. This was real, not a dream or hallucination. "But what the heck is Rebecca doing in Charlie's livestream?"

Janet felt absurd watching and hearing Charlie introduce Rebecca as his fan. "How could Rebecca be Charlie's fan? No way! And how could she be the lucky winner everyone's been buzzing about?"

"Wait a minute... Did Rebecca know I was going to be on this show? Did she somehow rig this, pretend to be a fan so she could join me on the reality show?"

Janet stared at the livestream, her face growing grim.

"Janie?" Karen looked at her daughter, puzzled. Glancing at her watch, she anxiously reminded, "Janie, we're running late. We should get going, right? Let's not keep everyone waiting." In the entertainment industry, acting like a diva was the worst. They'd timed their arrival to the minute, planning to go straight from the airport to the event. But Janie had been on her phone so long that Karen was worried.

Janet's face was cold as she glared at Rebecca through the phone screen. She put away her phone, calmed herself, and walked out with a sweet smile. Karen sighed in relief, but as Janet put her phone away, Karen caught a glimpse of a familiar face on the screen. "Is that Rebecca? Isn't Janie supposed to go to a reality show? Why's she looking at a picture of Rebecca now?"

Karen was puzzled, but Janet had already walked away, so she hurriedly followed. Once outside, Karen understood. Rebecca was also part of the show, standing next to Charlie!

Over at Edwards Manor, Sam and Melissa were watching the show. Young people's reality shows weren't really their thing, but Janet had given birth to their great-grandchild. The baby was only a month old, and she had taken him to work. They wanted to see their great-grandson! Janet had joined the film crew, and Sam and Melissa, too old for long-distance travel, were desperate for a glimpse of him. When they had free time, they watched Janet's show.

They had the maid put the live feed of the film crew on the TV, ready to watch the reality show Janet was filming. Melissa and Sam were only interested in Janet, so the maid pulled up her individual stream.

At first, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. But then Janet stepped outside the airport, and as the camera followed her, it briefly caught Rebecca in the background. Both Sam and Melissa were stunned! Melissa was terrified. She stood up nervously and moved closer to the screen. "Is that Rebecca? Is that her?!"

Sam nodded. "Yeah, that's Rebecca!"

They were confused. After a moment, they realized what was going on and panicked.

Melissa said anxiously, "Why is Rebecca there? Isn't this where Janet is recording her show?"

Sam's already furrowed brows tightened. "Melissa, call Theodore and ask him what's going on," he calmly instructed.

"Yes, sure!" Melissa hurriedly nodded, her hands trembling. She took out her phone, found Theodore's number, and called him.

Theodore was in his office, buried in paperwork, when his phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, surprised to see it was his grandmother. He answered quickly.

"Grandma?" Theodore asked, confused.

Melissa said frantically, "Theodore, you need to check on something. Grandpa and I were watching Janet's show, and we saw Rebecca on the livestream! Why is Rebecca on the same show with Janet? Hurry and find out what's going on!"

Theodore's face darkened. He had a bad feeling about this. He immediately turned on his computer to check the recent shows Janet had been filming and found "Glimpse into Our Family" had just started live streaming. It was already blowing up online.

He found the show and opened the live broadcast. On the main page were thumbnails for five live rooms. At that moment, Room Five's mystery guest was revealed. The main page banner had been updated. While the other guests' posters remained unchanged, Room Five now featured Charlie and Rebecca together.

Theodore spotted Rebecca instantly! "Rebecca? What is she doing here?" Seeing her with Charlie, his mind jumped to the children's surname. Rebecca didn't let the children have the surname Edwards or Mitchell. Yet, strangely, they'd been given the last name Carter. "What's up with this Carter?"

Without hesitation, Theodore switched to Room Five. The livestream showed Rebecca and Charlie in the production car, headed to the filming location.

Theodore called Rebecca. Debra had hailed a cab and followed the production crew, bringing the two kids and two nannies. They were all in the car, following the crew's vehicle. Actors weren't allowed phones during filming, so Rebecca's phone was with Debra.

Suddenly, Rebecca's phone rang. Debra was surprised and looked down. It was Theodore calling. Debra stared at the screen, stunned. Then, she looked away, pretending not to notice. "Just a scumbag. Why is he bothering Becky? And he's not even divorcing!" If Theodore agreed to divorce Becky immediately, she'd drag Becky to the courthouse herself and get it over with!

Theodore waited a long time, but no one answered. In the livestream, Rebecca was quiet. There were no sounds from her phone or around her. She and Charlie sat in a car together, barely talking. But something was off about Charlie. He kept staring at Rebecca, his eyes filled with a deep affection that made Theodore's blood boil!
