Chapter 192: Fear of Inferiority
After a few minutes, Maggie opened the comments section. Several comments exclaimed about Gianna's confession and the limited-edition Judoll. One commenter asked, "Who is Nana? Is Gianna's name Nana? Oh no, oh no! Is it a love letter?" Others offered congratulations and requested couple jewelry.
Most comments were kind, but Maggie ignored the malicious ones. Her gaze lingered on the question, "Who is Nana?", causing her to pause. As the thread grew, curiosity about the commenter's knowledge mounted.
Maggie clicked on the comment and saw the host's reply: "Everyone, zoom in! The love letter in the doll's hand isn't a prop!!! There's a name on it!"
Stunned, Maggie zoomed in on her photo. A few seconds later, she fell silent. The envelope, slightly tilted, held a barely visible inscription: "To my dear Nana." She hadn't noticed it before.
Maggie was caught off guard. Fortunately, Nathael used the name "Nana," making it difficult to trace. The comments continued, mostly celebratory, but speculation about Gianna's identity grew.
Maggie ignored the comments, showered, and received a call from Nathael. He mentioned an afternoon meeting and planned to have dinner with her. He then offered to accompany her to the piano competition's preliminary round on Monday.
Maggie hesitated before declining, stating she would go with Leo. A silence followed, prompting Maggie to realize she'd revealed Leo's involvement. She explained that Leo, a relative of her piano teacher, had introduced her and was kind and respected.
Nathael, stating a serious tone, declared he would accompany her. Maggie was surprised but, upon reflection, decided it wasn't a problem, considering Kevin Dunphy's mellowed nature and his prior encouragement for her to introduce a boyfriend. Nathael's disappointment caused a moment of worry for Maggie; she quickly agreed but said she would inform Kevin Dunphy first.
After the call, Maggie informed Kevin and Leo, who both reacted positively. Kevin was thrilled, and Leo didn't object. What began as a visit with Leo turned into Nathael accompanying them to Kevin's house. Nathael, now in a good mood, planned to choose gifts for Kevin the next day.
Several Instagram notifications appeared. Nathael checked Gianna's account, his eyes warming at Maggie's post. He scanned the comments, mostly positive, until he saw a pinned comment:
"Ahhh! No! Gianna belongs to Xander! Gianna, wake up! Xander is your perfect match! I've been shipping you two for so long!!! I'm begging you to break up! What should I do if you're dating others instead of him? I'm unfollowing! I always thought designers had good taste, but she can date anyone! The comment above, are you crazy? You talk as if you know who her boyfriend is. No matter what, Gianna can only be paired with Xander! I won't accept anyone else!"
Nathael's eyes darkened; he reported the comments and messaged Maggie: "Who is Xander?"
Maggie, in a taxi leaving Nathael's villa, replied that she didn't know Xander. Nathael didn't respond. He instructed Alex to find information on Xander. Alex complied.
Nathael smoked, then received a call from Demi. Demi inquired about the Judoll and Maggie's preferences, hoping to give Maggie more gifts. Nathael responded calmly, stating he'd only given Maggie one doll, intending to spread out the gifts to enhance the surprise.
Demi tried flattering Nathael but he wasnโt easily impressed. She then asked for a picture of Maggie, which Nathael refused, stating, "I'm afraid you'll feel inferior." Demi cursed in surprise.
Nathael held a meeting, approving several projects. Alex then reported on Xander's information.
