Chapter 983
Meanwhile, Alexander was busy determining Heather's intentions and uncovering the family secret his grandfather had wished to discuss before his deathโthe Russell family's secret. He suspected the Riggs family was behind the Light-Shadow Killers' attack on the Russell home, but their motives and whether Lily was in danger remained unclear. He was determined to prevent any further harm.
Lily, oblivious to these events, spent her time tending her garden and caring for herself and her unborn child. She hadn't visited her lab recently, but Olivia regularly sent updates on her perfume progress. Olivia had developed two new formulas and sought Lily's feedback. Lily was impressed.
An unexpected visitor arrivedโLisa, accompanied by a delightful surprise: Nick.
"Nick? It's been so long," Lily exclaimed, pleasantly surprised by his presence in Sapphine City.
Nick, shy but happy to see her, greeted her politely. Their last in-person meeting had been in Westwood, and though theyโd spoken by phone, he remained grateful for her saving his life, a sentiment echoed by Mikeโs occasional thoughtful gifts.
"When did you get here?! Why didn't you call?!" Lily cried, ushering them inside.
"Then it wouldn't have been a surprise, would it?" Lisa smiled.
Several people followed, carrying numerous bags.
"What are these?!" Lily asked, astonished.
"Wedding gifts!" Lisa explained. "We heard you're getting married! These are from me; those are from Mr. Corden." She gestured, clarifying the source of the overflowing presents.
"You didn't have to," Lily sighed, overwhelmed by the sheer volume filling her living room.
"Of course we did!" Lisa said, producing a glass bottle. "This is from my dad. He wanted you to have it for your wedding. He said it's not expensive, but maybe just what you need. Something to do with being a perfumer, I think." She shrugged.
The small, delicate bottle held a faintly fragrant essential oilโa collector's item, Lily realized, given Mr. Parker's reputation for limited-edition creations. She was deeply touched.
"How is this not expensive? It's precious!" Lily exclaimed. "You must thank him for me!"
Lisa pouted. "You're happier with his little gift than with mine? My presents are way better! You should see what I got you!" She explained that her father, despite his seeming stinginess, had insisted she give Lily the bottle, certain she would appreciate it.
