Chapter 830
"Our family owns a substantial company, so it's only natural we have several enemies and competitors. Since we're launching a perfume, it must be a company in the same industry that tried to crush us!"
"A company in the same industry"
"Dad! They're our biggest competition!"
The Tanner Corporation's recent troublesโadding illegal substances to their perfumesโhad prompted an investigation by the Perfumers' Society. This led them to neglect Lily's matter for the time being.
Initially, Lily thought the issue would simply disappear; a perfume certificate wasn't a globally required professional qualification. However, the Perfumers' Society's creation of such a certificate was ridiculousโbarring someone from becoming a perfumer simply for lacking it. Successful perfumers relied on hard work, dedication, andโcruciallyโtalent. Talent, however, is inexplicable, meaning few possess it. Their country had finally produced someone excelling in this field, yet she was to be banned for ludicrous reasons. This was unreasonable.
Consequently, Lily refused to take the certification test. It involved substantial theoretical knowledge, much of it useless in practiceโmere formality. She hadn't expected anyone to take such a nonsensical requirement seriously.
Noah, leading a group of over thirty perfumers, publicly pointed out Lily's perceived faults, demanding she be banned from the industry permanently. Stunned by the post, Lily found it ridiculous rather than frightening. Most of the perfumers criticizing her were unknown to her; she'd never met them. Many were prominent members of the Perfumers' Society. They were now colluding to end Lily's career.
"Who do they think they are?" The post, initially unpopular, quickly became a top trending topic, surpassing even the Tanner Corporation scandal. Clearly, someone had paid to promote Lily's matter.
"'What kind of grudge does the Perfumers' Society have against me? They're putting in so much effort!'" Lily mused, sipping tea in the garden and scrolling through her phone.
"Lily, they want to ban you," Olivia said, having also seen the post. "Who do they think they are? How can they ban you and our lab? How can they prevent you from ever being a perfumer again?"
"They might have made deals with other companies, telling them not to buy or sell my products," Lily replied thoughtfully.
"What a joke. Did the Perfumers' Society forget who supports you? The entire La Beautรฉ Group, the country's biggest cosmetics company. With their backing, what harm would it do if smaller companies stopped buying our products?" Olivia scoffed, dismissing the Perfumers' Society as naive.
