Chapter 820

Arianna didn't know what to say to her father. How could he be so naive at his age? Even after Joseph's son had created such a mess and asked Arianna to handle it, he remained worried about him. If she were in trouble, her father would have acted far differently, showing far more concern. To him, a daughter was simply meant to sacrifice herself for the family.

"Get Mr. Hall to my office," she said coldly, pressing the intercom button.

Leaving his company's parking lot, Joseph noticed a suspicious car following him. A cold smile touched his lips. He had the chauffeur drop him off in an alley, then walked to a corner, turned twice, and hailed a cab to Elizabeth's house. He had to travel like a spy; there was no other way. He opened the door and saw his son, Damian, playing on his phone.

Seeing this, Joseph exploded. "Look at yourself! How can you still be playing games at a time like this? Didn't I tell you not to use your phone before I left? Do you think this is a f***ing joke?" He was furious. He'd worked so hard to save his son's ass, and here he was playing games! His anger intensified when he saw what was on Damian's screen.

"Don't blame me, Dad! I can't go anywhere. If I don't play games, I'll go crazy!" Damian retorted irritably.

Joseph fumed. "You only have yourself to blame! Look at what you've done. I gave you an important project so you could make me proud, not lose face! Now it's not just about losing face; it's a huge problem!"

"Why are you scolding him so much? How can you blame him? Did your wife turn you against your son? If you don't like him, disown him. Do you have to berate him like this? Oh, he couldn't handle it and disgraced you. Give your precious daughter everything instead of letting him join the business. Let's see how much is left for the Tanner family after she marries, shall we?" Elizabeth stormed from the kitchen, spatula in hand, her anger exceeding his.

Because of the circumstances, they couldn't afford a maid, so Elizabeth had to cook herself. Accustomed to an easy life, she resented this added burden. Joseph's reprimand of her son only fueled her annoyance.

"Please! When have I ever said such a thing? Can't I tell him off for making a mistake? Damian is spoiled because of you!"

Enraged by his response, Elizabeth slapped him twice. "Yes, I spoiled him because he's mine, not yours! Joseph, we've both suffered so much because of you, and yetโ€”"

"Enough!" No longer tolerating her outburst, he shoved her away.

Unprepared for this, Elizabeth lost her balance and fell. Stunned, she stared at him, tears welling, when he said, "Stop it! I'm not in the mood."
