Chapter 801
Upon arriving home, Joseph immediately searched for his daughter.
โWhereโs Ari? Hasnโt she returned yet?โ he asked anxiously.
Eloise, calmly sipping tea in the living room and watching television, replied, โIsnโt she at the company? Why are you home so early?โ
โItโs urgent!โ Joseph exclaimed anxiously. โWhy hasnโt Ari come home yet? I saw her leaving the company, and she still hasnโt arrived! Did something happen to her?โ
Eloise looked at him in surprise. โYouโre being strange. Since you saw her leave, why didnโt you call to her? You could have spoken to her at the company. Why wait until you got home?โ
Joseph, in a foul mood, retorted, โYou donโt understand! There are too many people at the company; some things canโt be discussed there. I planned to talk to her at home, but sheโs still not back!โ
He pulled out his phone to call her. Hearing the automated voicemail message, his frustration grew.
โUgh! Sheโs turned her phone off!โ
โSheโs probably busy,โ Eloise said. โYou know she doesnโt always come straight home after work. Whatโs the rush? Sheโll be fine.โ She leaned forward, refilled her teacup, and took another sip.
โSheโll be fine, but I wonโt be! The company has a huge problem!โ Joseph roared hysterically, his voice echoing through the house.
Eloise glanced at him. โWhy are you yelling at me? What can I do about a company problem? Iโm a housewife. I manage the home and the Tanner familyโs affairsโincluding all of you. I canโt help with company matters.โ
โYou just donโt get it!โ Joseph exclaimed, continuing to dial Ariannaโs number. Her phone remained unreachable.
Then, a scene on the television caught his attention. Eloise was watching a news report showing a crowd gathered somewhere. The footage was shaky and chaotic, but one voice was clearly audible:
โThis is slander! Who will compensate the company for its losses?! Just you waitโฆโ
Joseph leaned closer to the screen. Eloise clicked her tongue.
โHey, isnโt that Damian?โ
Josephโs heart leaped. He looked again; it was Damian. The final shot showed him angrily storming away.
โWhy is this on TV? Who is he arguing with? Take a look. Am I hallucinating, or is that your beloved son?โ Eloise asked, sipping her tea with a faint smile. Despite the crisis, she remained calm.
Fury burned within Joseph.
โHeโs such an imbecile!โ he yelled, pacing the room, phone still in hand. As soon as someone answered his next call, he roared, โIdiot! Where are you? Get home immediately!โ
Damianโs voice, timid and trembling, replied, โDad, Iโm at Momโs. I donโt want to go anywhere right now.โ
Joseph heard Elizabeth comforting Damian. This offered some relief.
โNo. Come home now. I need to talk to you!โ Joseph ordered.
