Chapter 780
Alexander seemed genuinely unconcerned about the other Russells. Lily, having heard this, decided to follow his lead.
"Great," she said. "We can both make our own decisions."
Alexander was surprised by her response. "I thought you'd try to convince me to reconcile with them, to remind me they're still family." He'd heard this countless times beforeโfrom relatives and friends, ever since childhood. They meant well, believing blood was thicker than water and urging reconciliation. They stressed his familial obligations, emphasizing forgiveness and understanding.
He expected Lily to do the same, perhaps even mentioning the need for his family's blessing for their wedding. Instead, she said, "Why would I do that?"
Lily shrugged. "I'm not you. I don't know what happened between you and your family, but I trust your reasons. I'll support you, no matter what. I respect your decision and trust your judgment. You must have good reasons for distancing yourself."
She'd never been in his position, felt she had no right to demand forgiveness, knowing nothing of his pain. Some things, she knew, were uncertain. She remembered her own lowest point, when Alexander had helped her overcome immense obstacles. In contrast, her uncle, Henry, had tried to frame her falsely and had made things difficult for Justin after Wilfred's death. "Blood isn't always family," she reflected. "Some prioritize self-interest above all else."
Lily's words deeply moved Alexander. He simply stared at the woman he loved, the woman who had held a special place in his heart for so long. He realized he'd made the right choice, she understood him best.
"The Russell family situation is complicatedand unpleasant," Alexander said softly, gently caressing her cheek. His gaze and voice were calm; he seemed composed. Lily nodded.
"Okay!"
"I'm hungry. Let's get something to eat. What do you want?"
He started the car, turning to her. "How about steamboat?"
Lily, remembering her pregnancy scare and avoidance of spicy food, smiled. Now she could indulge.
Tanner Corporation's perfume launch was a resounding success. The product nearly sold out on day one, with online stock disappearing in seconds and long lines at retail stores. The city buzzed about "Victory," rumored to bring good luck and grant wishes. This was either brilliant marketing or spontaneous word-of-mouth magic; either way, it became a good-luck charm.
The company was thrilled with the high sales and stockouts, envisioning a bright future and plentiful profits. No one was happier than Damian, already planning a celebration.
"Reserve the largest private room at Ryo Nightclub!" he announced proudly. "We're celebrating big tonight!"
