Chapter 762
Excitement surrounding the new fragrance was palpable, with a sense of victory permeating the city. Advertising blanketed television, streets, and the internet, generating significant buzz even before the official launch. Pre-orders on the Tanner Corporation website sold out in under 24 hours.
Damian and Joseph erupted in laughter, both jubilant over the sales report.
"Dad, see? It's only been a day, and the sales are incredible! The potential is limitless!" Damian exclaimed proudly, legs crossed as he sat opposite Joseph. "Just as I said, it's a success!"
"Great!" Joseph's eyes narrowed. "Can the production team keep up with the orders?"
"Don't worry, I've already arranged for three shifts at the factory. We're paying them overtime; they'll be happy to work."
He paused, a thought occurring to him. "Speaking of the factory, there's something I need to mention. Nathaniel's barely been there. I don't know what to do with him. I'm the only one managing this project."
Joseph frowned. "If he's not pulling his weight, get rid of him! We have a management meeting the day after tomorrow. Report on the project's progress to the board. This will establish your position and demonstrate your capabilities to the company."
Damian was thrilled to be invited to the management meeting. Despite his years with the company, this was his first serious invitation; being Joseph's son didn't automatically guarantee a seat, especially given his illegitimate status.
"Prepare your presentation over the next two days. Once it launches tomorrow, stay on top of things. Don't lose momentum at this critical juncture," Joseph said earnestly, placing a hand on Damian's shoulder.
"Dad, don't worry. This project is under control. Minor issues are nothing." Damian considered this, then added, "Dad, what does Arianna think of me?"
Joseph paused, his hand still on Damian's shoulder. "Why do you ask?"
"If she supports me, why is she seemingly unconcerned with this project? You said she'd mentor me, but she sent a useless lackey, suggesting she's only paying lip service. Dad, does Arianna truly accept my identity?" Damian asked pointedly.
He always sought to compensate for his mother's unhappiness. Arianna had offered no advice, and he hadn't bothered to ask; she was just a womanโhow much could she know? He'd heard she'd been shopping and socializing with celebrities. She wasn't a threat; eventually, the company would be his, and she would marry, leaving the Tanner Corporation behind.
Joseph pondered this. "Nonsense! Your sister isn't like that. She's happy you're back. She initiated this project and willingly handed it over to you. She also agreed to let you lead, didn't she? I know you and your mother suffered, but she's your sister. You're both my children. Understand?"
Damian smiled languidly. "Understood."
It seemed his father still harbored affection for Arianna. Damian would wait patiently to seize control of Tanner Corporation.
