Chapter 710
La Beaute Group's spokesperson began to conclude the press conference, but was interrupted before he could finish. His smile vanished instantly.
"With such a useful scent, shouldn't your grandfather still be alive?" The words hung in the air, chilling the atmosphere. All eyes turned to the speakerโa relatively unfamiliar man, sitting with legs crossed, a mocking smile playing on his lips. His posture was casual, his gaze sharp as he fixed Lily at the podium.
"Who is he?" someone whispered.
"My goodness! How rude!" another exclaimed.
While the media often pursued breaking news, the context mattered. This was La Beaute Group, with Alexander present. Respect for the deceased was expected, at minimum.
The man implied Lily's additions to the formula were useless, given her grandfather's death. More insidiously, he suggested a link between the ingredients and her grandfather's passing, given her claims of their benefits.
The crowd reacted with shock. Some deemed his interruption rude and abrupt; others found a perverse logic in his words. Many simply waited for the spectacle to unfold. His audacity stunned them. Was he toying with Alexander and Lily? The crowd's gaze shifted between the man and the couple on stage.
Lily narrowed her eyes. Was it him?
After a tense few seconds, the man stood, brushed his shoulders, and approached her. Those leaving paused, drawn back by the escalating drama.
"Lily, we meet again," he said, his chin raised in arrogant defiance.
"Mr. Richards, what is your purpose?" Lily's gaze was cold. He made no move to shake hands, and she mirrored his lack of initiative.
Noah smiled, his eyes sweeping over the onlookers, before turning to Lily, his smile fading. He produced a certificate from his pocket and waved it. "Ms. Christian, I, Noah Richards, on behalf of the Perfumers' Society, formally initiate an investigation. Your recent statements are recorded, and their veracity will be verified."
He paused, his gaze steady, though seemingly disappointed by her lack of panic. "I understand you lack a perfumer's certificate, which suggests involvement in illegal activities. We will hold you accountable accordingly."
Noah's words dropped like a bomb, silencing the reporters. Did Lily lack a license? The award-winning perfumer's lack of official credentials was a shocking revelation. With the Perfumers' Society involved, the accusations seemed credible.
