Chapter 696

"Mom, age must be catching up to you. Even if she uses Dad's card, you'd need to accept the transaction!"

Arianna smiled and reached for her mother's phone. "Mom, where's your phone?"

"What are you doing?" Elliot looked at her suspiciously.

Arianna took the phone and dialed a number. Holding it to her ear, she said, "Hello, I'm Joseph Tanner's wife. Yes, it's me, Mrs. Tanner. I accidentally lost a few credit cards and am worried someone might use them. Could you temporarily freeze all supplementary cards under my husband's name?"

Eloise stared, wide-eyed and stunned. "I'm getting slower!" she thought. "Why didn't I think of that? All those soap operas, and this never occurred to me! I should have used my mistress-handling expertise!" Her anger instantly morphed into joy. She calmly watched from the window as the woman inside continued shopping, oblivious.

Arianna continued her call: "Yes, this is the ID number. Yes, that's the correct phone number. All right, I'm sorry for the trouble. Thank you so much!" She hung up and returned the phone. "Mom, let's watch the show!"

They found a secluded seat across the street, partially hidden by potted plants.

After a while, Elizabeth chose her items and went to pay. She casually presented a card. Knowing what was coming, Eloise still clenched her fists as she saw her husband's credit card. She gritted her teeth, muttering, "That b*tch!" Inside, the shop assistant took the card, then returned a few minutes later, whispering something to Elizabeth. She replaced the card with another.

The result was as expected. None of the cards worked. After several attempts, the shop assistant's impatience was evident. Elizabeth's fury erupted. She stood, slammed the counter, and yelled. Eloise couldn't hear the words, but the sight was satisfying.

Elizabeth, clearly flustered, paced, one hand on her hip, while dialing with the other. Arianna whispered, "Mom, Dad may call you soon." Elizabeth was clearly calling Joseph; with the cards frozen, he would be her first resort.

A smirk played on Eloise's lips as she watched. "Let him! I'll be waiting!"

Arianna raised an eyebrow at her mother's smirk. It seemed her formidable mother had returned.
