Chapter 68

After meeting Olivia, Lily initially planned to go home, but then received a call from Jenny. Lily didn't have Jenny's number and was momentarily stunned before recognizing the voice. "The second and third tests are ready. Are you?" Jenny asked bluntly. Lily paused, then asked, "When?"

"Aren't you in a hurry? Can you do it now?" Jenny's tone was provocative. Lily, however, wasn't intimidated; she welcomed challenges. What truly frightened her was a surprise attack. Checking the time, Lily said, "Sure, I'll go to the office immediately. I'll be there in twenty minutes."

Lily's question about the timing stemmed from concern about a scheduling conflict with next week's court session. She hadn't anticipated Jenny's urgency, however. She decided to deal with it quickly. Whatever it was, she would confront it head-on.

Jenny texted an address, instructing Lily to go there directly, bypassing the office. The address seemed remote, prompting Lily to forward it to Alexander.

Alexander, currently in a conference room meeting, saw his phone briefly illuminate. Catching sight of Lily's name, he raised an eyebrow, answered the call, and quickly replied, "What's the matter?"

Unaware Alexander was in a meeting, Lily sent a voice note.

Seeing the voice note, Alexander glanced at the meeting participants. Tapping his pen on the table, he addressed the vice president, "Please continue." Then he rose and left the room.

In the adjacent empty room, he listened to the voice note. Lily's voice was clear, suggesting she was outdoors.

Alexander accessed the address Lily had sent, enlarging the map with a two-finger swipe. The location became clear: He recognized it immediately. He replied, "This is one of the company's labs. Are you going there?"

Alexander's quick deduction was unsurprising. Before Lily could explain, he'd already grasped the situation.

Lily's decision to consult Alexander was wise. But why did Jenny want her at the lab now? Hadn't Jenny recently barred Lily from the project department? Had she changed her mind? "Okay, I got it! Thank you!" Lily replied cheerfully, then hailed a taxi. The address seemed legitimate, so she decided to investigate.
