Chapter 645: "Which is where exactly?"
Lily was surprised when the car stopped at an abandoned amusement park. 'Did he bring me here for fun and leisure?' she wondered. However, she wasn't in the mood. "Let's watch a play," Alexander mysteriously announced, taking her hand and leading her toward a giant Ferris wheel. Lily was dumbfounded.
Edward exited the car but went in a different direction.
Alexander guided Lily to a high viewing platform. The park was half-built, abandoned mid-construction, with scaffolding and incomplete structures. Despite its unfinished state, the quality of the construction seemed decent; they felt safe enough on the platforms.
Lily wondered about Alexander's plan. He'd brought her here at this hour, claiming they were here to watch a play. From the platform, her view extended far, unobstructed except for the partial structures.
Yet, the place was deserted. No people, no animals. What play could there be in such a desolate location?
"You need patience," Alexander replied, as if reading her mind. He sat on a bench, inviting her to join him. "It should start soon. We arrived early, but we can enjoy the scenery."
He checked his surroundings before unzipping a bag. Inside, he revealed a thermos and a lunch box, the aroma of coffee and red velvet cake filling the air.
Lily stared, amazed. 'When did he prepare all this?' she mused. She'd noticed the bag when he left the car and sensed its importance.
"Since we're watching a play, snacks are necessary," Alexander said, pouring her some coffee.
Lily, speechless and confused, accepted the cup.
"You'll find out soon," he said.
Halfway through coffee and cake, they heard an unusual soundโa car engine in the distance, distinct from the wind whistling through the park's structures.
Lily stood, peering into the distance. A car approached, stopping in a clearing. No one emerged. Lily had a clear view, as did the occupant of the car. "Is this the play?" she asked Alexander.
He shook his head, smiling. "Nope. Be patient."
The car remained, neither departing nor occupied. It seemed to be waiting. After half an hour, another car arrived.
It stopped near the first. A person exited the first car, but the distance made identification impossible. Lily couldn't even determine their gender.
