Chapter 643
"I know you were with Lily Christian," Henry stated, scrutinizing Nathaniel. "Then she left you." He hadn't come empty-handed; he knew something about Nathaniel. He didn't, however, know about Nathaniel's connection to the Tanner family. While aware Nathaniel worked for Tanner Corporation, Henry was unaware of his debt repayment and subsequent turnaround.
Regardless, Henry cared little. He only wanted to know if Nathaniel could help him.
"You seem well-informed for someone who's been abroad, Mr. Lodge," Nathaniel chuckled softly. "Yes, you're right. I owe everything to your niece. Speaking of which, you could have been my uncle!"
Henry narrowed his eyes. "If you help me this time, that might still be possible." He implied helping Nathaniel regain Lily's affection. Nathaniel laughed. "No, you misunderstand. While I do want revenge on Lily, that's not my request. I'll do my best to help you. As for me, I'm insignificant within Tanner Corporation. Breaking into this industry is difficult, so future support from you, Mr. Lodge, would be welcome."
"Planning to take over Tanner Corporation?" Henry looked intently at Nathaniel. He knew the young man had ambitions, but not this grand a vision. "He's aiming for the stars, huh?"
The Tanners were a prominent family. To Henry, Nathaniel was merely a project manager. No matter how far he climbed, the Tanners wouldn't hand over the company to an outsider. How naive!
Yet, Henry was unconcerned. As long as Nathaniel focused on the Tanner Corporation, he posed no threat. Success or failure was anyone's guess.
After considering this, Henry nodded. "Okay, I'll help you in the future. Now, how can you help me?"
Nathaniel, observing Henry's revealing expression, grinned. As Henry spoke, Nathaniel retrieved a box from his car. He opened it. "This is what you need."
Henry's eyes widened. "Scented candles?!"
Seeing the contents, disappointment washed over him. "Is that it?"
"These aren't just any scented candles, Mr. Lodge. They're evidence to convict Lily and Justin."
"If it were that simple, I'd have done it already," Henry muttered, shaking his head. His trip seemed wasted. He'd expected concrete evidence, not a replication of his own flawed plan. The candle Lily made remained unused. Forensics would easily expose the fakes as poisonous imitations. This could backfire spectacularly.
"I assumed you had a better plan. Now I understand how a little girl like Lily could fool a man like you."
