"What's wrong? Can't I do it?" Damian felt displeased by Arianna's tone. "I know everyone looks down on me because I'm new to the company, and I'm an illegitimate son. You all lied when you said everyone would treat me fairly, and that this training was just a prelude to bigger projects. Pfft…"

He muttered, shaking a tissue packet he'd picked up from the table. As he gestured, the tissues fluttered to the floor, one by one. "Those were empty promises! All fake." Though seemingly mumbling to himself, he glanced at Arianna repeatedly, drawing out his words.

"Damian, don't say that!" Arianna rose and approached him, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. "I didn't say you can't do it. I was just surprised by your request. Why do you want to head the new branch?"

Hearing her acceptance of his request, Damian's eyes brightened. His head shot up. "Are you willing to let me be in charge?"

"We'll discuss that later. You need to give me a reason for this sudden interest, don't you?" she said, her voice softening. "Selecting a branch manager, especially for a new one, isn't easy. I need to hear your reasoning first."

Damian's dissatisfaction returned, lacking confirmation from Arianna. Her words weren't wrong, however, so he could only reply grumpily, "The new branch will be a challenge. The company's other projects are established and well-developed. I don't understand their structures, and I feel incompetent trying to help. I want to show our father what I can do, and this new project seems ideal. Plus, it's about perfumes and cosmetics—that sounds interesting and simpler. I'm sure I can manage it well!"

"Simple?" Arianna smiled. "You think it will be simple?"

"They're things women use, aren't they? I've researched them, and I plan to recruit people to create a new product line, then use celebrities or models as ambassadors. Once our marketing team works its magic, I'm sure our products will be a hit!" His excitement grew, as if already in charge.

A moment later, he added, "Ari, I've thought this through! Let's get Jess Young as an ambassador! She's stunning, and the perfect choice! I even have plans for her style and wardrobe. Don't you think I can manage this?"

Witnessing Damian's enthusiasm, a cold smirk played on Arianna's lips. What an idiot! He just wants to manage the new branch to flirt with female celebrities. How can he be Tanner Corporation's next successor with such thoughts? What right does he have to seize what I've worked so hard for?

"Ari, please let me lead the new branch!" Damian, weary of persuasion, returned to the subject.

"About that…" Arianna paused, then smiled. "It's not that I don't want to let you, but I can't decide alone. I need to consult others."

"Cut the crap!" Damian roughly brushed her hand away, rising to his feet. "You're just shifting blame! I know you suggested the branch, and you have the authority to choose its manager! You chose someone earlier, didn't you? You're just afraid I'll succeed and upstage you! Whatever, let's end this. I'll talk to Dad."

He started to leave, but Arianna called out anxiously, "Damian, that's not it. Listen, I'll explain. Damian…"
