"Maybe the news hasn't gotten out yet," Lily said, smacking her lips. "Olivia, I need you to spread this news."

"Spread what...?" Olivia hesitated. "Why do you need me to spread the word? The Lodge family won't be releasing this to the public?"

This should have been a public announcement, especially concerning Wilfred, an important national figure. News of his passing would undoubtedly fill newspapers, and his funeral would be attended by all the prominent families in the country. Olivia had no connection to the Lodge family; wasn't it odd for her to be the one releasing the news?

"There's a problem back home, which is why... I need your help," Lily clarified as a knock sounded on the door.

She turned to see Alexander enter, followed by Edward. Alexander had intended to speak with Lily but, seeing her on the phone, refrained. He turned to Edward and quietly instructed, "You can leave now."

"Yes, Mr. Russell," Edward replied.

Lily was surprised. "Lily, I think... I heard Edward's voice," Olivia said.

"Yes, that's Edward. He's here too. Why? Do you have something to say to him?" Lily asked, walking toward Edward.

Edward turned at the mention of his name.

"No, no, I don't have anything important to say to him," Olivia quickly denied. However, she immediately added, "Erm... I was just wondering if his cell phone is still not working."

"His cell phone?" Lily glanced at Edward, then at her own phone, smiling. "Someone's curious about your phone, whether it's working or not," she said, intentionally raising her voice.

Edward frowned but nodded honestly. "Yes, it's still not working. It happened just yesterday. I'm using a backup phone now, but I'll get it fixed as soon as possible."

Alexander nodded. "You don't have to explain yourself to me." He thought: I wasn't the one who asked.

Lily spoke into the phone. "Did you hear that? His cell phone is still not working. Do you have anything else to ask, Ms. Olivia Hart?" She intentionally used Olivia's full name to tease her.

Olivia was flustered. "Hey, I was only asking! Lily, why are you teasing me? You're so mean!" She hung up.

Lily, finished teasing Olivia, handed the phone to Edward, only to hear the click of Olivia’s call ending. They stared at each other in awkward silence. Lily retrieved her phone. "Erm... what's your backup number?" she asked Edward.
