Chapter 599

Raising his eyebrows, Noah watched her gather raw materials. She finished, gave him a sidelong glance, and headed for the shed. The shed held the necessary equipment, but it was incompleteโ€”clearly designed to create obstacles. This didn't seem to faze Lily, however. Ignoring him, she continued working on perfecting the formula.

For two days, she'd done nothing else. It seemed wasteful not to utilize the numerous pre-made items she possessed, including refined essential oils. She simply needed to combine ingredients and prepare everything; soon, a fragrance would emerge.

Noah followed, watching intently, silently observing her every move.

Lily eschewed the measuring tools, pouring everything into a bowl and stirring by eye. This prompted an excited "Hey!" from Noah. He started to speak again, but Lily's glare silenced him.

Let's just see what she created.

After a while, a tinkling sound was followed by a light, fragrant scent.

Noah considered himself a leader in perfumery. Despite his youth and relative lack of renown, he was confident in his potential to become a pioneer. He envisioned great achievements, yet a seed of doubt began to sprout. Lily's relaxed, casual approach was unlike anything he'd ever witnessed. She perfumed with the ease of someone enjoying afternoon tea, her focus so complete that it put him at ease.

Time slipped away unnoticed. Suddenly, Lily announced, "Okay!"

Snapping back to reality, Noah checked the time: over three hours had passed.

"Give it a try," she said, placing a small bottle before him, her face radiating confidence. He already had expectations, but he took the bottle, pipetted some onto a test strip, and inhaled deeply.

The scent was peculiarโ€”a grassy note interwoven with floral sweetness, reminiscent of morning dew on blossoms. It possessed a unique, pure, and natural quality. "I haven't seen this perfume on the market. Is this your latest creation?" Noah asked, tilting his head.

"To be exact, it's today's new product," she corrected, her tone serious.

"Today?" He'd watched her every step, yet he was astonished. "I don't believe it!"

Before she could respond, he continued, "Of course! You made it before me, but you must have conceived this recipe and practiced it beforehand, right?"

"Believe what you will," Lily shrugged, unconcerned. "Returning to our discussion, it's not about whether the fragrance is new or old, but whether the most common raw materials can yield an exceptional perfume."

He'd seen every ingredient she usedโ€”nothing precious or rare.
