Chapter 543
The burgeoning popularity of Lily's perfume was a boon for the entire industry, promising a significant boost in overall sales. While not everyone could afford exclusive fragrances, the top perfumers would be exceptionally busy. Furthermore, the specifics of Lisa's mentioned perfume remained unknown; some even speculated that Lisa's claims were entirely fabricated.
Many dismissed Lisa's reference to a Hyderland perfumer as a mere pretense. Some even suggested that her father, Wesley Parker, had created the perfume for her. The question arose: why would Lisa seek out a Hyderland perfumer when her father was such an influential figure in the industry?
Even within Hyderland, a deep-seated prejudice existed against domestic perfumers. Many believed it difficult for Hyderlanders to achieve international success in the perfume industry, considering any local successes dwarfed by international experts. This inferiority complex, coupled with a preference for imported goods, fueled circulating rumors. As a result, a television station invited Lisa for an exclusive interview.
Daisy, Lisa's manager, was ecstatic. Despite Lisa's strong background and connections, her career had been relatively stagnant; her fame hadn't yet reached its potential. This unexpected viral surge, driven by Lily's perfume, presented a golden opportunity.
"Remember, don't mention the perfumer's name. Let the audience guess. If they ask directly, say your friend wishes to remain anonymous," Daisy instructed, helping Lisa with her hair and outfit.
"Daisy, I don't like this," Lisa protested, her frustration evident. For days, Daisy had shielded her from calls, preventing her from revealing Lily's name. The mention of the television interview caused Lisa's face to fall.
"I know you're unhappy, and I know you're loyal. But you need to consider yourself and your father," Daisy argued.
"My dad? What does he have to do with this?" Lisa asked, confused.
Daisy sighed, straightening up. "Lisa, think about it. What does your father do? He's incredibly well-known. What would people think if they discovered his daughter uses someone else's perfume instead of his?"
Lisa blinked, still unconvinced. "What does my perfume choice have to do with my father? Is there a rule that says a perfumer's child can only use their father's perfume? By that logic, a real estate agent's child can't buy another house, a Louis Vuitton CEO's child can't buy a Gucci bag, and a surgeon's child can't have another surgeon operate on them! That's absurd!"
Daisy's attempts at persuasion failed. "Lisa, it's different!"
"No, it's not. And I'm running out of time!" Lisa's annoyance with Daisy's persistent interference was growing.
For the interview, Lisa wore a form-fitting dress that accentuated her figure and initially planned to wear Lily's perfume. After reconsidering, she put it back in her bag. She had been initially disappointed upon receiving it, but a closer examination revealed its charm. It had quickly become one of her favorites.
Beyond the unique scent, the bottle itself was captivating: a lavender-colored cat, sitting down with a ribbon around its neck, its head held highโarrogant yet adorable.
Lisa carefully stowed the perfume, got into her car, and headed to the television station.
